out and about

Last Saturday night I co-hosted a party along with Shiva Rose and Minnie Mortimer to celebrate the opening of LA bag designer Clare Vivier's flagship boutique. As you know, I am a huge fan of Clare's buttery leather clutches and bags. And her new store means more fodder for my ever-growing clutch collection. Post-party Clare staged a lovely al fresco dinner, attended by lots of LA lovelies. I decided to wear my new distressed Paige jeans with a French Connection sequin-sleeved dress (which I made into a top by tucking it into my pants--and is now on super sale), and my new Christian Louboutin heels. You can check out more fun party pictures at Vogue.com

Ahh ok, the top from the other post is actually a dress. Really love the styling with the denim and pumps. Adding this outfit to my inspiration boards.

Love the outfit, but whenever I try to tuck a dress into jeans or pants I get all bunchy. Any tips for that?

Whenever I try to tuck in a dress it ends up all bunched and weird in my pants. Do you tuck just a bit and blouse the rest? I'd love a tip for how to do this!

The Paige jeans are Skyline Ankle Peg in Beachwood.

The dress was an easy one to tuck because it's made of silk, so it's thin and it's short, so there wasn't that much fabric. But, yes, I just tucked in a bit and bloused the rest.

marlien - can you share how the dress fits / how the sizing runs? especially if the plan it to mostly wear it as a top? personally, id even have it cut. (since there are no french connections in LA the dress is final sale and sizing is low its a bit of a risk). thanks for sharing - you style it in such a cool way!

I am glad you asked, because the dress actually runs a bit big in the shoulders and around the hips. I would definitely go a size down. It is a great piece at a great price. I am only sorry I bought it pre-sale!

Love what you've done with this sequin-sleeved French Connection dress! This gives me so many great ideas - especially 'cause it looks so fantastic on you! Tucking it in really shows off the details on the arms, too.

That color blue is incredibly classy, and your heels take those jeans to the next level. Great blog. Excited Paige shared it.
