jenna's jeans

The New York Times recently heralded Jenna Lyons,  J.Crew's executive creative director, as "the woman who dresses America." I regard her as a fashion bellwether, at the vanguard of style, the first to try and validate new silhouettes, color combinations, and combinations (like teaming a denim jacket with a long pink satin skirt at the Met Ball). Looking at pictures of Jenna is like looking into fashion's crystal ball and divining what's next. This image, taken a few weeks ago at a premiere in New York, reveals a new jean silhouette on the horizon. One that's cropped, boyish, distressed, straight leg--and refreshingly different from all the skinnies we've been wearing. One that might be the next bestseller. One that we may all be wearing very, very soon. Here are some possibilities from Acne, Current Elliot, and Madewell (as pictured on Jenna).

Love the coat but I think the pants are completely awful. They make her legs look short. Cannot get on board with this one.

Agreed- not flattering, though probably comfortable. This would be disastrous on someone less than Jenna's 6 feet.

I. too, love the coat! And dislike the pants. I probably will stick with skinnies. That silhouette will do nothing for my figure. But I can see all the model-y types wearing it. :)

I looked at that picture and said, "Yes! I can do that!" What I can't do is find any skinny jeans that are long enough for my long legs. Maybe Jenna got tired of waiting to get some custom made skinny jeans and grabbed what was available, regular length jeans.

Any idea who makes the shoes?

Love the whole look, especially the jeans, sooo tired of skinny jeans so this is a great alternative.

Jenna's jeans? Jenna's coat! Jenna's shoes! The whole ensemble is brilliant...if you're six feet tall. I'd look like a caveman in those jeans. They're not for every woman. Heck, most women.

Re: shoes... they may be J. Crew's new Gwendolyn wedge (4-strap, comes in black patent). Can't tell for sure, though.
