cinched in

French Vogue's Emmanuelle Alt (above and below) led the charge at the recent Paris couture shows with a belted jacket. Of course, others immediately followed suit, as evidenced below. How does one get this Gallic-cool look under one's belt? With oversize jackets like this Etoile Isabel Marant (pictured above), this tweed Warehouse and this sleek Mango paired with narrow, vintage-looking belts that literally pull it all together such as this and this. Voila!

Hello Marlien,
Any idea who makes the tweedy coat in the second to last picture?
Thank you!

Love this look. I just snagged that buffalo check red/navy J crew coat on major sale which I'm now thinking of belting (if it's long enough). Thanks again for the fresh look. Also, did you purchase those leopard sneakers from sam edelman? Curious because i'm looking to get those or Galant sneaker from Via spiga. Lastly, there's a cute sweater shirt by Rebecca Taylor with lace cut outs - reminded me the applique floral one you just posted from jcrew. Happy shopping!

Love this look, but I'm convinced you have to have no boobs to make this look good! I have tried and its not flattering. Such cute styling though.

Love your blog! Kim

First off: I love EA! and this look! She is sexy and gorgeous. BUT- my only problem with this look is: what if you need to stay somewhere for awhile?! I really like it, but in the end I decide it just does not seem practical! I am going to need to take that coat off...

Marlien, any idea on who makes Emmanuelle Alt's boots or a close substitute?

Love your blog!

The tweedy coat seems to be from a past Isabel Marant Etoile collection

You just chuck the belt in your bag if you need to stay somewhere for a while -- works a charm!

Really enjoying Emmanuelle Alt at the moment. She's someone who really stays true to her personal style.
