I bought a studded white fisherman sweater in Paris earlier this month that I've been wearing like bananas. And now I am going to continue the trend deep into winter with this warm and cozy Zara turtleneck.

baggage claim
Thursday, October 29Currently at 35,000 feet, on a flight back to LA, my old battered carry-on suitcase in the overhead bin, I'm thinking I need a upgrade, one that would in an ideal world involve a monogram and gorgeous leather trim, like the Globe Trotters, above. But since this suitcase is about as pricey as plane ticket to Timbucktu, I could also fly in style with these options, all owned/recommended by my frequent flying friends: Briggs & Riley (which is expandable), Rimowa (so light!), Samsonite (made with forever durable canvas), Tumi (my husband's go to) and Flight 001 (easy and practical).

jean dream
Wednesday, October 28Courtesy of a friend I had dinner with last night, I have a new jean obsession, and it's called Amo. These jeans are distinctly cool in that they're vented at the ankles, perfectly faded and crazy amazing ridiculously flattering. And it seems I am not the only one head over heels, as I just came across this pic of Sienna Miller in Vogue, arriving in Rome, wearing her own pair. P.S. That she would fly in these jeans also says a lot about their comfort and versatility. I also love this pair here.

multi-hued motos
Tuesday, October 27The anything-but-black biker jackets I am seeing out and about are compelling in that they come across as elegant, sophisticated and decidedly fresh-looking, while still offering the same closet staple value: wear with everything and throw over your shoulders and go. I'm loving these versatile neutral-hued versions by Iro, Ganni, T By Alexander Wang, Whistles and Maison Scotch.

most wanted dress
Monday, October 26Thanks to LA's endless summer (with temps continuing to hover around 80 degrees for the next week!), I've been getting lots of play out of my Vita Kin dress, above, which I love and, taking into account all the stop-me-on-the-street compliments the dress gets, it seems many other people do, too! Unfortunately, this handmade piece is long sold out, but today I discovered similar intricately embroidered versions for a lot less money here (see below). I bought this striking boho top, which will work just as well when the mercury finally dips!
surely shearling
Friday, October 23Just a little bit of shearling is going to go a long way this winter, as demonstrated in the snaps here. Of course, not only will this plush accent offer extra warmth but an up-to-date, winter-coat-and-then-some look! I'd like to fend off Mr. Frost in these furry friends by Tibi, Rebecca Taylor, Rag & Bone, Topshop, Paige, Pepe Jeans, and BCBG.

beaded beauty
Thursday, October 22This amazing H&M find reminds me of the gorgeously embellished dresses and skirts I saw at Andrew Gn's Spring 2016 show in Paris a few weeks ago. The jewel-like beading is super opulent looking and yet it's a steal!

sought-after shoes
Wednesday, October 21My twin sister is currently working in Paris, spending the little downtime she has running around the city trying to nab this season's most coveted, already-sold-out-in-the-US shoe, the Chanel slingback, above. (I managed to snap up a pair while I was there a few weeks ago!) This toe- capped, mid-heeled shoe was featured in Chanel's Fall 2015 ready-to-wear show with nearly all of the 98 looks. So far, my sister hasn't had any luck in landing a pair of her own. I recommend she set her sights forward and buy the next must-have shoe, the resort-ready Gucci crossover sandal, below. Get them now while they last here.

knee deep
Tuesday, October 20When sweater weather blew into New York this past weekend, the boot brigade trotted out, sharp, polished, and fantastically knee-high. These calf-hugging, block-heeled leather boots are like a breath of fresh air--i.e., not your typical season-after-season ankle bootie. I saw them pounding the Soho pavement with everything from loose-fitting trousers to skirts and dresses. The sight of it all inspired me to hunt down some of my own. Of course, I found several amazing options that I'd like to get knee deep into, including these pairs by Stuart Weitzman, Barneys New York, Madewell, Report, Gucci, See by Chloe, Loewe (above) and Gianvito Rossi.

My twin sister and I met at Topshop in New York yesterday afternoon and found each other wearing matching outfits. knit fit
Monday, October 19LA's endless Indian summer has had me in easy, comfy dresses. And it won't change when the cold rolls in, as I'll be wearing fall's go-to knit dresses. Flattering, elegant and chill-proof, this kind of dress is a cinch to wear, easy to style, and can be dressed up or down. What more could I want? Well, I want these versions by Topshop, Front Row Shop, Joie, Whistles, Stella McCartney, and Zara.

cropped and cool
Wednesday, October 14I love the cool and cozy look of a cropped sweater layered over a blouse, but it can be tricky to pull off (i.e., balancing the proportion of blouse to sweater, avoiding unwanted bulk, etc.) This two-in-one English Factory sweater takes all the guesswork out and its under-$100 price is pretty sweet, too. (P.S. It is 25% off through Thursday at the Shopbop sale--and, FYI, I added a few other items I love to yesterday's sale roundup!)

birthday bounty
Tuesday, October 13It's my birthday today and I awoke to discover the most excellent gift: the Shopbop Friends and Family Sale! The deal: 25% off on almost everything, including just-in, winter-ready pieces through Thursday. I'm eyeing this birthday-party ready McQ Alexander McQueen dress; this crazy sexy Flynn Skye blouse, this shearling lined Sea jean jacket (from yesterday's post); these Sam Edelman knee-high boots, this Antik Batik embroidered blouse (you know me and my affinity for peasant blouses!); these sleek faux leather BCBG pants (I also like these real leather AG ones); this cool Stylestalker asymmetrical sweater; these dark wash Baldwin jeans and these standout Loeffler Randall flats (similar to above). Get the code here to shop the sale!
solid stripes
Monday, October 12LA's relentless heat is keeping me in my breezy striped Breton t-shirts (my current fave is this cute boyfriend-inspired one by Kule), but I'm hoping it won't be too much longer before I can swap them out for some more winter-worthy stripes. I'm referring to comfy striped sweaters that go with just about everything and always look polished. This season offers up particularly excellent iterations, the best of which are by Joseph (pictured above), Isabel Marant, The Kooples, Iro, Alexander McQueen, and J.Crew (30% off today only!).

the new winter uniform
Friday, October 9No doubt, you'll be pleased to know that all it will take to look up-to-the-minute chic this winter is--thankfully!--a pair of high-waisted cropped jeans, a fantastically cozy sweater and feminine mid-heel pumps. Fashion show go-ers worked this new cold-weather uniform aplenty in London and Paris, relishing, no doubt, its comfort factor, too. To get in on this easy, breezy look, consider these jeans by Madewell (I have and adore them!), MiH, and Alexa Chung x AG, along with these standout knits from J.O.A., River Island, BCBG, Stella McCartney, Joseph, Vanessa Bruno and No. 21 (my friend wore this to meet for drinks in Paris and it is truly awesome!). Shoe-wise, I love these by Chloe, Topshop, Nine West and Jeffrey Campbell (inspired by the Chanel pumps in the last two pictures!).

midi mania
Thursday, October 8Sightseeing and people watching are synonymous in Paris, and for me, the mass of pretty midi skirts was one to behold! Of course, French women are always "dressed up" by American standards, but it's captivating to actually see this chicness executed in daily, rue-running action. Inspiring too! In fact, I'm now convinced I don't need an occasion to wear a midi skirt; like a pair of jeans, it can be a part of my everyday routine, particularly these ones by Rosetta Getty, C/MEO, Leith, Proenza Schouler (third to last pic), J.O.A, Tanya Taylor, Topshop, and A.L.C.

tie off

$60, topshop |
The other day I spotted what could possibly be the coolest t-shirt ever: it tied in the front and had a long dramatic sash. Turns out the t-shirt was actually a dress by Free People, which a woman had stylishly tied around her abdomen, transforming it into a dramatic top. Then along came this fantastic discovery: a Topshop tee that ties cutely/discreetly in the back.
