hallowed things

Well, that was fast, October! At least it blew in some cool new things my way, including the best birthday gift from my best friends (Jenna Blake's gold heart necklace, below), Netflix's The Queen's Gambit (obsessed), and the latest Fashion Institute Galley Auction (ends 11/1), featuring artists' perspectives on the Spring 2021 designer collections (my faves below). Plus, Haute Haney's super luxe made-to-order loungewear-meets-partywear set, above, just launched. Also new to my repertoire: these super flattering Citizens of Humanity jeans (that my sister has tried to steal from me--TWICE!), GOOPGENES' Nourishing Repair Body Butter (working overtime right now during these Santa Anas), Molly Sims' 30-day Bootcamp (so, so good!), and these ribbed wide-leg pants from The Frankie Shop. Happy Halloween, all!

fall getaway

lisa aiken

Getting out of town is all I want to do these days, and Moda Operandi's Lisa Aiken demonstrates how I can wing it, super stylishly. Her recent getaway to Nantucket packed in easy straight-leg jeans, wear-with-everything Nike Air Max sneakers (also here), Toteme tank tops, relaxed Vince pants, Uniqlo cashmere sweaters ($50 a pop!), an oversized white Jacquemus blazer, a Le17 September maxi coat, and Khaite knits.  P.S. Moda Operandi is staging a 25% off Fall Sale!

a fresh coat

It makes sense that fleece looks fresher this fall. Designers correctly assumed we'd be living in the softest stuff possible, and so they spun out tons of stylish options to suit everyone. The ones that really nail comfy and chic include The Reformation's coat, above, Madewell's popover jacket, this belted Vanessa Bruno (last pic), this denim-trimmed Sandy Liang (on sale!), and this luxe-looking oversized See By Chloe.

the cuffed chino

My current kick-back-and-relax pant is the cuffed chino. They're loose, casual but still sharp looking, plus everywhere-friendly. My current go-to's come from Club Monaco, below, See by Chloe (on sale!), Saint Laurent, and The Frankie Shop, above, or in this lighter color. And I like them with outfit-elevating pieces like this Cinq a Sept feather trimmed sweater ($158!), this floral puff-sleeve Misa, and this Chanel-spirited Sandro (on sale)!

mucho mango

My sis and I have honed the science of borrowing clothes from each other, but, I must admit,  she is better at borrowing pieces from me more often. In order to mitigate this, I think I need to point her in Mango's direction, so she can load up on the above fringed jacket (instead of pinching my Max Mara), the faux leather cargo pants, and the wear-over-everything trench coat, so we can make things a little more equal!

on the fringe

This fringed sweater is seeing me through this cool and cloudy string.

puffer perfect

Can't believe we're blowing into puffer season, but at least we have unbelievably good options to choose from. This year it's all about a luxe leather one, pictured above, but my favorites are faux (i.e., refreshingly affordable at under $200) and hail from The Gap (60% off!), Avec Les Filles and Mango, below.

costa palmas

Coco and I escaped to Costa Palmas, Mexico, this past week, where we mixed business (shooting our next Ouiwant campaigns) and pleasure (bobbing in the bath-like Sea of Cortez). Tranquil and secluded, the new 1000-acre beautifully-designed beachfront resort is surrounded by organic orchards and farms, an 18-hole golf course, and desolate stretches of white sand. It's been a while since I've taken a decadent vacation (thank you, Covid-19), so I felt even more grateful for the luxuries of room service, sunset swims, and fluffed pillows before bed. Plus, Costa Palmas takes luxe to another level: Every detail from the poolside bar pillows to the beach club bathroom tiles to its in-room ice bucket is uniquely resplendent and masterfully thought-out. Coco and I could barely take two steps without whipping out our phones to take pictures. If you go, which I highly recommend you do ASAP, make sure to check out the stunning spa (the tiled pools and sumptuous relaxation area), The Nursery's delicious farm-to-table dining, and every breathtakingly beautiful nook and cranny of Milos. Of course, we did all we could to meet these vibrant surroundings with our own exuberant prints, stand out suits, and layers and layers of blingy and bright Jenna Blake Jewelry, pictured here. We snapped up a good amount of paradise-ready clothes from Permanent Vacation (like the Warm Clothing blouse and Lisa Marie Fernandez), and supplemented with Zimmerman, La Double J, and Mayle's newest collection of feminine skirts, tops and dresses (also here). Suits we sourced from La Double J (also here on sale), Eres and Anjuna. Keep a lookout for an upcoming Ouiwant x Jenna Blake post featuring all of our Costa Palmas style!

pull over

The pull-on pant trend comes just in the nick (of holiday-feasting) time! I love how they can be chic--and comfy as can be! Key to styling them is teaming them with more sophisticated-leaning pieces, like a tailored blazer and luxe knits. These versions from Vince, Co, The Row, and H&M are both flattering and forgiving.

net net

This week gets off to an auspicious start, thanks to Net-A-Porter's highly-anticipated Friends and Family Sale, teeming with the most stylish fall pieces. Among my favorites: Ulla Johnson's gorgeous knits, above and below, these Joseph wide-legged leather trousers, this Nanushka ribbed knit bodysuit, this investment Givenchy, these faux leather Frankie Shop shorts, these light-wash Re/Done jeans, these See By Chloe booties, , and this Ganni wear-with-everything jacket. Soooo much more to see here!

friday night lights

I had my first dinner out at Nobu in Malibu in months last night--and the scene was quintessentially Nobu in Malibu: Cindy Crawford held court on the seaside deck, people glumly waited for a table, and paparazzi parked outside. Not only did I relish the baked crab rolls and artichoke salad, but also catching up with my girl friends, who shared a few tasty nuggets with me, like the provenance of the cute (Bottega-like) clutch for $34, below, (thank you, Molly!), the miracle-working, skin-transforming power of Sarah Chapman's overnight facial (here too), must-read books (The Vanishing Half, The Guest List, The End of Her) and the outfit-making $40 chain-link necklace, above. I shared some of my own treats, too, which I will offer to you: this amazing new-to-me line of sexy yet supportive sports bras that are around $38, these And Other Stories butt-flattering jeans, this standout fringed Cinq a Sept blazer, and these Missoni-spirited leggings. Happy weekend, all!

sea fit

Just a colorful reminder that exceptionally cute, light-up-your-day kind of dresses, like the Sea New York patchwork dress, above, and the Warm floral print, below, are up for last-day discount grabs at Shopbop! Other super pretty pick-me-ups: this leopard-print Sister Jane, this Lost + Wander shoulder-tie dress, and this faux-leather Staud. Shop it all here!

staud x new balance

In the event you missed out on Staud x New Balance's newest (and already sold-out) sneakers, pictured above, I did find an equally compelling substitute in the men's section, in multiple color options, no less! My faves are the white and silver and navy and red.

my sister's sparkle

One of the best things about traveling to NYC last week with my sis was having 24/7 access to her bag of baubles--specifically one pair of hoops that--shhhhhh!--I might still be wearing now, back in L.A. They look a lot like the golden goodies, above, so versatile yet not at all basic, plus very reasonably priced. Then there's the gold cuff and the pinkie ring, below, which she gave to me for my birthday! Everyone thought it was by Brent Neale, but it was actually a vintage find. Other sparkles she had on hand (for me!) looked like this chunky chain link bracelet, these bangles and this cool tangled choker!

sweata weatha

My rusty packing skills had me checking in a huge suitcase to New York last week--and wearing the same three things over and over again. Doh! Next time, I'll wing with it just a few do-it-all pieces, like the Goop Label belted cardigan, above, (gorgeously photographed in Amagansett by my very own twin sis!!) or the vintage-spirited Frances Valentine cardigan, below, along with this hybrid jean jacket from Sandro. Okay, I'll also jam in these truly perfect Khaite jeans, this statement Misa blouse, these wear-with-everything Rag & Bone booties and this super cozy oversized H&M sweater.

turn over a new leaf

Finally, I see some signs that fall is actually flying by: Pumpkins! Marigold leaves! And all things cold-weather cool at Shopbop's annual Fall Sale! (Spend $200+, get 15% off, spend $500+, get 20% off, get the code here.) I LOVE Sandy Liang's faux fur pullover, above, which looks amazing on its own or layered under a maxi coat, plus these cozy cover-ups by Plush, Kule , We Wore What, and A.L.C. Also on tap: Jeans galore, cute knits (this and this) and THE boots I want! If you're looking for leather (who's not?!), try these perfect pants by Nanushka or Paige or this blazer by Anine Bing. Check it all out here.

new york news

While New York may be devoid of its usual thronging tourists and teeming traffic right now, its universally-appealing style remains. And amen to that! It's currently manifest in distinctly cool trouser-like leather pants (not leggings of yore!) such as these by Goldsign and Nanushka (so many spotted last night at Bar Pitti!), statement-making face mask chains like this by Lele Sadoughi, Etsy and Bauble Bar (practical yet cute to go with these!); Carolyn Bessette-preppy jackets (this and this and this); uptown-to-downtown, made-for-walking ankle boots by Loeffler Randall and J.Crew; plus fancy hoodies like these by Loulou Studio, The Reformation and Levi's.

denim days

These dog days of social distancing has me in denim more than ever. But not your garden variety blues, of course. I recently snapped up these dark Citizens of Humanity charcoal jeans that are eminently flattering and stretchy-comfortable and these '90s-inspired but of-the-moment light-wash Goldsign jeans (similar to above, but more fitted), plus this cute Topshop dress, this Mayle denim skirt and the Sandro tweed-accented jean jacket below (on sale).

a solid case

A French friend of mine turned up at lunch yesterday at Le Bilboquet on a bike, with beautifully flushed cheeks and her phone slung on a chic cross-body gold link chain (see below). It reminded me of another stylish Parisian, above, a Vogue editor, who totes her phone all over town with a rope Casetify strap. (P.S. The adjustable strap comes in the coolest colors, with monogram options for the phone case. Yes and Yes!) Of course, I ordered one on the tuna tartar spot!

comfort zone

For me, sticking with what's most comfortable these days starts with (obvs) the most comfortable underpinnings. The only caveat: they must be pretty enough for peek-a-boos! Like the lace bralette, above. I swear by these from Hanky Panky and in fun colors too. And, shhhh!, I also adore the ones from H&M. (My necklaces are by Hart Hagerty and Thatch Jewelry!)
