on point

My new Toteme black flats, above right, made their on-point debut last night and were clearly in good company at my friend Candace Nelson's soiree, celebrating interior designer Sara Story and the start of Frieze Los Angeles. While I quizzed my art world-savant friends on what shows to see, they pressed me to share the Le Catches yet to be unveiled. Here's what I encouraged them to check out: the sold-out-multiple-times but just-restocked Sezane coat, below, as worn by Sienna Miller in Paris yesterday, Banana Republic's excellent iteration of the coveted Gucci Marina earrings, Adidas Sambas that are not black and white, and Anthropologie's under-$200 woven (Bottega Veneta-like) satchels.

take two

Speaking of dupes, Mango just came out with its take on The Row's Idaho tote, above, also rendered in a woven-leather oxblood (read: Guccioption, below. Meanwhile, Steve Madden made almost an exact replica of the buckled Ganni, along with a believable knock-off of the strappy Miu Miu, below, this Khaite-inspired slingback, Gucci-like kitten heel and Hermes-ish slide

my own private idaho

My current favorite fashionistas--Courtney Grow, Lilly Sisto and Olivia Wayman--have me convinced I need The Row's Idaho bag pronto. I like its eye-catching trapezoid shape, Except I can't decide between the twill (or the tan!) or the  brown leather.

south of the border

Over the weekend, I went to Oaxaca, Mexico, for a photo shoot—2173 miles away to a world where, for me at least, the Milan Fashion shows were not simultaneously unfolding, the ref’s whistles of my son’s weekend volleyball games were blissfully silent, and all I had to worry about was what kind of taco I’d order next. Expect to read about all my discoveries in my next substack, but in the meantime, I will share that I loved wearing this new spring-fresh Anthropologie dress on my trip, that I came across these cool jelly sandals, delightfully similar to these by The Row, in between the best guacamole and shredded cabbage tostadas I’ve ever had and finishing Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow (finally!). Landing back in reality shortly.

getaway plan

Massimo Dutti's spring campaign, shot on location in Venice, triggered major wanderlust--as well as a hot-and-sunny shopping list! It includes the following: the linen eyelet set from River Island, the floral-trimmed And Other Stories' shoes, the knit striped and denim jacket by Sandro, all below, along with this scalloped Citizens of Humanity shirt, this Ulla Johnson one-piece, and this Harbison dress. Happy Weekend, everyone!

cream of the cropped

And just like that we have a new must-have blazer to buy! It's cropped and fitted, tailored and polished, and even functions like a shirt (read: no need to wear anything underneath). Zara (love the fancy Bottega-like buttons) makes the one, above, but I also adore these iterations from Free People (vegan leather),  R13 (khaki canvas), Velvet (classic), J.Crew, and Saint Laurent (tuxedo).

future perfect

Last I checked, spring is 27 days away, yet Moda Operandi buyer Jasmin Kirk is springing ahead in sub-40-degree NYC, with crochet (paired with leather to make it work now!), a cropped Balenciaga trench, below, (this one from Favorite Daughter is also terrific) and a fringed Khaite dress, among other key next-season silhouettes. I want to fast forward too and winterize these future-ready pieces from Diotima (last pic), Sandro (fringed dress, below), Sezane, (with socks or tights now!), Free People (love the metal clasps), and Maje, (picture the embroidered collars peaking out from a cashmere crewneck!), along with this Eleven Six tasseled top, this gorgeous white Magda Burtrym floral applique bag, and this statement-making Staud top.

fancy footwork

If you're looking for a detailed recap of London Fashion Week, just stand in Alexa Chung's shoes. Literally. Her Simone Rochas red metallic ballet flats whisked her to the BAFTAs, and then off to (Erdem, 16Arlington, Emilia Wickstead, Connor Ives, JW Anderson) shows, all in strut-worthy Celine loafers, above, studded Khaite boots, sparkly Gucci slingbacks, black Prada kitten heels, patent leather Christian Louboutin ballerina slippers, and shiny Ferragamo ankle-strap wedge pumps.

ever more

Can we talk about how good Everlane looks right now? The new spring collection branches out from the usual basics with more fashion-forward pieces offering more bang for the buck. My favorites: square-toe ballet flats ($145), above, a well-cut, corduroy-collared barn jacket, and a chic cropped denim jacket, both below and under $200.

busy body

While my son is busy upstairs mounting a computer monitor screen to his bedroom wall (how does he know how to do this??) on this rainy, stay-at-home holiday, I'm doing the usual: scouring the web and scoring some excellent finds, including the deeply-discounted J.W. Anderson blazer, above, the on-sale-today-only Cinq a Sept dress, below. (Sourced at Neiman Marcus, which is having a pretty excellent President's Day Sale, BTW.) Also cute: the fringed Mango, last pic, this vintage-looking parka, and this sheer (Khaite-like) button-down shirt for under $100!
