simply summer
Wednesday, June 24
If you're looking for more ways to take it easy this summer, take some simple style cues from Danish model and twin Amalie Moosgaard. Her Instagram feed is a visual master class in polished, pared-down chic, anchored in neutrals (black, beige, and white) and clean-cut staples (faded Levi's denim shorts, also here, button-down shirts, classic ballerina flats). Her other wardrobe winners: cut-out black leather sandals by ATP, relaxed, oversize shirts like this, this and this, bone (not white!) straight-leg jeans by Tate, exactingly-cut t-shirts, year-round black trousers (also these on sale!) and billowy dresses by The Reformation, Mara Hoffman, Frankie Shop and En Saison. All of it is like a walk in the park!
my summer edit
Tuesday, June 23
One thing I can do to make life easier for you this summer? Give you my meticulously curated, hours-in-the-making edit of all the pieces you'll need to get through it in style, conveniently organized right here! In short, it's head-to-toe complete with easy, wear-with-no-joke-everything sandals and shoes (for under $100, no less!), right-now and ready-to-go sneakers, the most flattering and comfortable everyday-perfect jeans (above), the cutest (and not crazy expensive) bikinis, the hero dress (or two or three, below!), and other fun make-the-most-of-it essentials (like this and this). Check it all out here!
the cropped blazer
Monday, June 22
Now integral to 2020's new normal: the cropped blazer. This fresh wardrobe staple--distinctly different from the ample hip-grazing cuts we already own, with its boxy cut, double-breasted silhouette and truncated length--will update any outfit in a snap. And the best part is we can start wearing it this very minute, all the way through who knows when. The checked Nanushka, above, is on 60% off here! I also love these iterations from Acne Studios (on sale), Massimo Dutti, Club Monaco, and Zara.

twice as nice
Thursday, June 18
Considering my twin sis and I are genetically identical, it's no wonder we love the same clothes. Still, that doesn't mean we wear them the exact same way. This recent photo shoot with Nuuly--think Rent The Runway but for the cutest everyday (and wallet-friendly) clothes!-- exhibits our individual style quirks and then some. See how we took one Nuuly piece (Celia B. above and English Factory, below) for double the looks--and, ultimately something for everyone. For more pics and styling tricks, check out the feature here!
holiday in
Wednesday, June 17
My summer plans remain up in the air, but at least I can still fly off to holiday chicdom. My non-stop ticket comes via Lisbon-based sun-tinged, sandal-wearing Mafada Patricio. Her inspirational style is founded in simple, earth-toned silhouettes, accented with unique, retro-spirited accessories--all of which work exceptionally well for me here at home. Let's start with her signature flowy dresses and skirts: above by Gestuz, skirt below by Pinko, last pic La Double J, and also this on-sale stunner and this. Then there are her classic striped tunics by Kule (pictured) and feminine eyelet blouses by H&M and Place Nationale. It's all punctuated by large, roomy beach bags (Loewe, above), statement sandals by Arizona Love, above, Melissa jelly sandals, below (ringers for this season's Celine!), a print bucket hat and a sparkly Oseree swimsuit for good, fun measure. Take me away!
done deal
Tuesday, June 16
At least Net-A-Porter is still running like clockwork, having just launched its summer sale. There are loads of warm-weather wonders that normally would have been long gone by now, like Chufy's striking print dress, above, along with this white-blouse perfection by Jacquemus (now on its way to me!), these outfit-making By Far sandals, this Sirconstance tourmaline heart necklace (reminds me of Irene Neuwirth at a fraction of the cost), this floral Faithfull the Brand, this Solid & Striped denim mini dress, this vegan leather Nanushka blazer, and this alluring Anemone underwire-cup bikini. Scour the ginormous sale here!
summer sandals
Monday, June 15
With this summer having (most of) us staying close to home, perhaps it should come as no surprise that the season's go-to shoe is kick-back-and-relax comfortable. Birkenstocks, above, are still no-brainers (I love the fresh big buckle version), but now there are some more fashion-y iterations to choose from including this and this. Also in the mix: Teva-inspired sandals from Porte & Paire, Loeffler Randall, Steve Madden, Arizona Love and Asos (very Celine-ish). For super luxe, long-term comfort, Chanel (below) has a sandal to slip into (and does The Row, but it's pretty much sold out everywhere but here)--and yet so does Villa Rouge for under $100!
state of the art
Friday, June 12
Being at home so much lately--read: looking at the same four+ walls--has deepened my gratitude for what's actually on my walls and around the house! My older sister Aimee Rentmeester, a photographer like my twin, took the above picture several years ago. It's imbued with joy and freedom, and it just makes me smile. Other treasures making home sweet home sweeter: this original line-drawing below from a London-based artist ($39!), this UO rattan and metal chair, this CB2 woven pendant light and linen napkins. If you're feeling extra DIY right now, like me, check out this cute fix-it kit!

Yesterday was my kids' last day of school but, frankly, it's felt like summer vacation since March 14, when they started distance learning from home. Which may be a weak excuse for losing track of date and time--and only thinking about Father's Day now! Oops! I wish I could celebrate or at the very least hug my father, who is in New York, but I have no plans to hop on a plane at this point. Thankfully, my hubby will be indulging in his favorite activity: surfing with my sons (my eldest pictured, above). And they will all enjoy these treats from Willy California (my go-to for guys!), Bose (beach-friendly!) and Sugarfina (I will enjoy this too!).
