Everything about the above outfit is perfection--its balance of ease and polish, uptown and downtown, feminine and masculine. But I'm even more obsessed with the person wearing it. Her name is Frannie Gilligan, and you may recognize her as's beautiful, bag-toting model. (Designer Clare Vivier happens to be her aunt!). Frannie compels me not only to stock up on all of Clare V's amazing bags, including the just-out woven tote, above (20% off !), but also to want whatever she's wearing. Let's start with Frannie's vintage Levi's jeans, above, which she procured at . They boast a high waist, straight leg and perfect length (i.e., most flattering combo ever). I found the most excellent versions from Levi's and as they're sold out everywhere else (I'd cut the hem to adjust length and for worn-in effect). Then there are Frannie's signature retro-chic, wear-with-everything loafers by , her cat-eye , her adorable Peter Pan-collared blouses, like and , her pretty floral dresses (, and ) and, of course, her aunt's latest spring bags, including the Petit Bateau (third pic below, on sale), (immediately below, also on sale) and this punchy lizard-embossed (my fave and also on sale!).
Spring's must-have bag requires some major spring cleaning. As in you'll have to oust everything but your lipstick. Because these new bags are so itty-bitty you could carry two, or maybe one small and one standard-size. But one thing's for sure: you'll definitely want to show it off. The go-to is Fendi's (along with the !) seen in these pics, above and below, taken last week in Paris. If those are too petite/impractical, then try one that can at least accommodate your cell phone like these by (which I'd monogram, of course), (with its chic link strap) and , or expand to clutch-size like these by and (vintage).
