Looks to me like there's a gold mine out there right now: clothing, bags, shoes, even baby onesies are being rendered in the shiniest metallic gold. A little glint, like Shala Monroque's metallic leather mini, works for everyday, and gleamy accessories are perfect for lighting up the night. Check out these stunning golden nuggets:

Stella McCartney has been wearing ombre jeans everywhere--to school drop-offs as well as to glamorous events, like her resort 2012 collection presentation in New York. The designer's good friend Gwyneth has been working her ombre jeans, too, donning a black pair to walk the red carpet. I like this Madewell pair because the color grading is subtle, and blue denim, as we all know, is endlessly wearable. I'd give them a spin with...
1. Tibi leather collared crochet overlay silk shirt,
2. House of Harlow gold pave ring,
3. River Island tassel bucket bag,
4. Barneys Co-op suede pumps,
5. Madewell ombre jeans*,
*P.S. Madewell offers free shipping and free returns on all jeans, and you also get 20 percent off on orders of $150 or more through Monday, August 13.
I'm loving the ornate, very Balmain-opulent beading on this jacket. It looks decadent and fancy (and way more expensive than it is), and I love that you can go big with it, with, say, slick leather pants, or wear it informally, with a pair of boyfriend jeans and heels. I'd give it a whirl with...
1. J. Crew silk t-shirt,
2. Topshop beaded jacket,
3. Noir bracelet,
4. Zara ankle-strap heels,
5. Current/Elliot boyfriend jeans,
If you've ever been to a Barneys Warehouse Sale, you know the drill: you sharpen your elbows, show up early, stand on line and hope for the best. But no longer. For the first time ever, Barneys is staging its Warehouse Sale online and it launched today. The inventory is rife with amazing deals, like the Proenza Schouler dress, pictured above, reduced from $1450. I've rounded up some more of my favorite finds below from the likes of Jil Sander, Isabel Marant and Current/Elliot. And you can scope it all out for yourself here.
The ankle boot has long been a wardrobe staple, but this fall, it will get an update--a lower cut and a shorter heel. Some editors are calling these trendy must-have boots shooties. I call them super cute and majorly wearable. Try this guy with...
1. Topshop checkered sweater,
2. Fallon stud earrings,
3. Clare Vivier messenger tote,
4. Sam Edelman low-cut boot, (on sale for $104 at until Aug 5!)
5. Rag & Bone cropped skinny jeans,
I've been glued to the tube, watching the Olympics. But seeing the bikers barreling through London's cold downpours and the beach volleyball players all covered up has my mind on chilly weather. Hence my interest in this BB Dakota faux fur coat. I love the luxe-looking vest-like patchwork fur trim (a huge trend for fall). And I know it would keep one balmy when winter blows in. I'd wear it with...
1. Tory Burch peplum sweater,
2. BB Dakota faux fur coat,
3. Zara studded bag,
4. 3.1 Phillip Lim booties,
5. Vince leather jeans,
It's the middle of summer and I am already contemplating my go-to fall boots. (I have started rounding up some of my favorites and will share them all in a post soon.) My criteria for the perfect pair goes something like this: I want my boots to be ankle height, go-with-everything neutral, walking-friendly, around-the-clock versatile, and, of course, seriously fetching. I think that these boots have all those attributes, and incredibly, they cost $115. Wear them with...
1. Mulberry angora sweater,
2. Ray Ban New Wayfarer sunglasses,
3. Zara bag,
4. Oasis boots,
5. Isabel Marant Etoile corduroy pants,
After I posted about white jeans last week, many of you emailed me asking to share my favorite brands for white jeans. Well, I am glad you asked. Because white jeans can be tricky to shop for: some styles can be overly sheer, or too long, or uncomfortably rigid, or just plain unflattering--or all of the above! For starters, fit-wise, white jeans should NOT be skintight. I don't care how skinny you are, tight white jeans look super cheesy. White jeans should skim the thighs and hip (not strangle them). The style you wear--cropped, flared, skinny or straight--is such an individual choice (often driven by body type). I personally like all of the styles, but if you have short legs I do think cropped jeans can make your legs look shorter, whereas flared jeans are pretty much universally flattering. As far as styling white jeans go, I take my cues from Emmanuelle Alt, pictured above, who typically pairs her pants with boyfriend shirts or t-shirts and Balmain blazers. (P.S. Note how her jeans are slightly loose.) The French Vogue editor in chief lives in white jeans year round and, like me, swears by Topshop's (as does her equally stylish co-worker ). Below is a rundown on my most beloved white jeans and why I like each one. And if you are weary of buying jeans online since you can't try them on before buying, just choose a store (like Shopbop) that offers free shipping and free returns.
Topshop's Baxter jeans have a cult following, and it's no wonder: they're comfortable, elegantly low-slung, and curve-flattering. They're not super skinny in the lower leg either (I dislike that calf-bulging legging effect), and for me, they're the perfect length (I'm 5'8"). They're the ultimate day-to-night jean. Topshop offers free shipping on orders over $100, but you will have to pay return shipping, which is usually under $10 for my typical return.
The cut of these Madewell Rail Straight jeans is fitted, straight-leg and mid-rise. They give you a nice long, lean line. They're so flattering I bought them in blue, black, and white. Madewell offers free hemming in-store, plus free shipping and free returns on all jeans.
J. Brand's Zoey jeans are my favorite cropped jeans. They're perfectly stretchy and, therefore, perfectly snug (they manage to somehow hold everything in, in all the right places!). They also have a distinct waxy sheen, which makes them look a little more high fashion, and the zippers add an edgy, biker-esque vibe. Shopbop offers free shipping and free returns on all merchandise.
Mother's wide-legged jeans are extra long (I have to wear my highest heeled sandals with them) but they make my legs look like they go on for miles. The flare cut also yields a serious slimming effect. The denim is very stretchy and lightweight, so they're also uber comfortable. They're also as versatile as can be.
Hope that was helpful, and please let me know if you have some favorite white jeans I should know about!
I own seven pairs of white jeans, each of them slightly different in their cut, length, and comfort. They're all fail-safe though, appropriate for the most summery activities, from picnics to breezing around foreign monuments. I tend to wear them casually, like everyone else, with flat leather sandals, but this picture inspires me to amp them up a bit and try them with tough black strappy sandals, kind of like these.

I bumped into a stylist (of the uber Hollywood ilk) friend of mine the other night, and as usual, she looked unerringly hip, in black cropped leather-like jeans, a white t-shirt and red ballet slippers, which dutifully worked to give her basic outfit a jolt of French girl-chic. Since I've seen her, I've been steadfastly wearing my red flats out and about with...
1. Vionnet asymmetric silk top,
2. Topshop sleeveless blazer*,
3. Alexander Wang washed leather chain handle bag,
4. Gap ballet flats,
5. Current Elliot gray leopard jeans,
* Wear this sleeveless blazer unbuttoned and open for a swingy vest-like effect..
