Scarf season has yet to arrive in LA, but that being said, it's not exactly toasty out! To stave off the brisk fall breeze, I'm thinking a chic silk scarf will do the trick. I like a vibrant vintage-looking one, such as , and . And it will look spot on when paired with a distinctly cool, in-between-season jacket, like this shearling lined denim jacket, this pea coat (similar to above), this double breasted jacket, this faux fur bomber and this wool cape.

When Zara embraces an emerging trend, you can usually bet it's going to be big. As such, prepare yourselves for skinny scarves, as the big Z has styled most of their fall campaign looks with them. Next season's scarf craze also includes the neckerchief, tied tightly (very French chic-ly) around the neck. Leave it to the fashion crowd to transform the good old paisley bandana scarf into the newest must-have accessory. Of course, this is no ordinary bandana, but rather a silk rendition by . Along with snow and minus 15 degree wind chill, last weekend's winter storm also precipitated a fur stole takeover on the streets of New York City. Before the weather calls for wrapping up in chunky, chill-defying wool scarves, I'm wanting to give the silk skinny scarf a whirl. Prada's coveted version, above and below, has a fun and slinky '70s vibe, which, of course, is one of fall's definitive trends. It looks best casually tied and draped around the neck, finishing off a streamlined, straightforward outfit (team it with a basic top and tailored blazer, or an oversize V-neck sweater, or a sleek dress). The belted scarves that defined Burberry's Fall 2014 runway show are now hitting the streets, and I have to say I like the look. This styling trick might just be the easiest way to add a warm layer and look up to the minute. Of course, the scarf need not be the painted flower cashmere Burberry (seen and ), but it does have to be long and flowy, and it works best over a long dress or coat.
