endless winter
Tuesday, February 21
While bracing for what's forecasted to be one of the coldest storms in years, praying my flight will make into Aspen on Thursday, studying various weather model predictions, and simultaneously reconciling with a soggy, stuck-in-LA weekend, I'm also examining how exactly the women of London, specifically those currently attending Fashion Week, endure long English winters with steadfast style. From these pics alone, I've concluded a statement jacket or coat is mandatory. Perhaps even all one needs to get by! With the end of the season nearing (let's hope!), there are some very good options with exceptional mileage on sale, very similar to the ones featured here, including these by Stand Studio, Yves Salomon, Chloe, The Great, and Vince.

the long run
Tuesday, February 21
I first tried these Veronica Beard jeans on in front of my friends, with no mirror in sight. And it was so interesting to gauge their reaction first before assess the jeans on my own. All of their mouths morphed into little O's, with a collective, "Ooooh!" coming out. Then they informed me, one by one, that the jeans made my legs look super long, that I would love them, that they were beyond flattering. Intrigued by their comments and super curious to see for myself, I ran to the mirror and immediately acknowledged: They're right! The jeans are most definitely excellent! Yes, I will shorten the length a bit, so that I can wear them without high heels, but still, they'll yield the same amazing legs-for-days effect. They also happen to be stretchy and everyday-comfy. I teamed them with Veronica Beard's matching vest for the reveal, here, but will wear them with everything from t-shirts to cashmere!
mall haul
Monday, February 20
A 90-minute wait for the 18-fold dumplings at Din Tai Fung yesterday sparked a whirl around Century City mall--and several unexpected purchases! I snapped up the $80 denim jacket, above, from the Gap, along with the knit and fringe dresses from H&M (here, here and here), plus fell in love with the Gucci espadrilles, last pic, and this crochet Zimmermann to go with.
the big time
Friday, February 17
Big, baggy jeans are a mainstay in my teenage boys' wardrobes. Me, not so much. I fear oversized jeans will make me look like how they sound. No bueno. However, thanks to model Vilma Bergenheim, above, and Anouke Yve, below, I've found a few flattering options to weave into my weekly rotation: these new fantastically-cut (twin sister-verified) Madewell jeans, these no-fail Levi's classics, and the AGOLDE, below. I'm now thinking I'll throw in the Adidas Samba sneaks to go with!
more maje
Friday, February 17
Collectively designers, both high and low, have been fixated on pared-down basics and neutrals for what seems like forever. White button-downs can be had everywhere at every price. Perhaps that's why Maje's new spring collection, full of unexpected silhouettes, fabrics and colors, excites me. Take, for example, the excellent metallic leather pants, above. They're both a statement maker and a staple! Then there's the Chanel-spirited belted cardigan, Miu Mia-like rhinestone-studded jean jacket, and the super cool studded sandals that go with everything!
knit knockout
Thursday, February 16
Evidently New York Fashion Week's non-negotiable is a knit skirt--both on and off the Fall 2023 runways. What's more, it's a no-brainer with a matching jumper, as Indre Rockefeller, above, flawlessly demonstrates. I like these styles from Cos, Joseph, Proenza Schouler, Loulou Studio, Co, and Zara.

cool khaite
Tuesday, February 14
If I've gleaned anything from looking at a zillion street style pictures over the last few days, it's that I need a pair of Khaite boots ASAP. Fashion show goers in New York, featured here, validate this new (albeit late-in-the-season) necessity, proving they work wonderfully with everything from mid-length skirts to flowy dresses. The low heel makes them easy to walk in, to boot! The beautiful brown suede pair, above, can be found here! And the various black versions are available here, here and here. P.S. The perfect white denim pencil skirt, above, comes from here!
