new year newbies
Friday, December 30
As I make a point of doing every year, I'll be watching the sun set on the last day of 2022 and setting intentions. Among them: read more, cold plunge daily, live in the here and now--and, pull off the impossible sequins-with-sandals combo flawlessly, like Nili Lotan's chicer-than-chic Spring 2023 look, above. You'll also find me in this (Europe, here I come next summer!), this and this (scored on super sale!) next year--and beyond. Happy New Year, all!
new year, new extras
Friday, December 30
On this last day of 2022, I'm posting this pic of with resolute faith that I will take it to all kinds of fun places in 2021. Another intention for the new year: more running around in a bathing suit, pretty skirts and a huge grin on my face! I am so ready to dip in with these by Zimmermann, Gucci, Proenza Schouler White Label and Veronica Beard. Happy New Year, all!
packed and prepped
Thursday, December 29
For me, one of the most exciting things about going on vacation is packing for it! My process typically starts with a hunting and gathering mission in my closet (and, yes, online!), then editing down the options to equal parts staples and showboats. En route to Hawaii today, I am packed and prepped with a list of recommended hikes, prayers for surf, and my trusty carry-on, replete with clothes that all share one valuable trait: I can throw them on over a wet swimsuit and still feel dressed. My new go-to's include: the pretty floral Alemais cover-up, pictured above, and the intricate eyelet, below, along with this cute cut-out mini! P.S. I love this Australian brand for its Zimmermann-like vibe with a friendlier price range! See more of this exceptional line here!

white
Thursday, December 29
In case you haven't heard, the vanilla girl aesthetic is sweeping Tik Tok, with posts bearing the hashtag racking up over 175 million views. The trend is anchored in light, cream-colored clothing, minimalist interiors and barely-there makeup. Personally, I think head-to-toe white is like a breath of fresh (spring) air during the winter--and an unexpected counterpoint to the season's typical black-everything bleakness. Case in point above!
boucle beauty
Wednesday, December 28
My frothy tulle dress totally missed the mark at a neighborhood holiday party the other night. I would have not felt so self-conscious had it not been for an impeccably chic friend who opted to wear what I should have worn: crisp jeans with an unerringly elegant boucle jacket. She reminded me of boucle's virtues--its day-to-night wearability, how it instantly elevates and endures season after season. Plus, she inspired me to add bits more to my wardrobe. I love these by English Factory, Gucci (in my dreams!), Miu Miu (major statement), Isabel Marant and Sandro. The jacket pictured above is from H&M.
le couch
Tuesday, December 27
I impulse-buy clothes, no problem. But when it comes to furniture, I have full-on phobia. It's not rational, I know, especially these days when a coat can cost as much as a couch! That being said, a coat can live in my closet and be worn at my discretion; My couch, on the other hand, requires at least a 365+ day commitment! All of which explains why this Lulu & Georgia daybed sat in my shopping cart for almost a whole year. I would visit it there from time to time to discover it had been back-ordered, re-stocked and back-ordered again. During its brief re-stocking a few weeks ago, I finally pounced and--hooray!--it arrived today! I am very pleased with my purchase, so much so that I feel emboldened to foray further into furniture shopping and am now on the brink of buying this floor lamp (for my son's room), this Noguchi-inspired light, and this Coco Republic boucle chair.
the twilight zone
Monday, December 26
We've officially entered the Twilight Zone: the span between Christmas and New Years that has us relentlessly dazed and confused. Today I woke up unsure of day of the week, what I am supposed to do, whether I should work, if calories even count, how much tv binge-watching is acceptable, etc. What I do know for sure, however, is that it's sale time (I just scored here and here--hooray!). I'm also certain that it's a fine time to contemplate frivolous things I normally wouldn't have the bandwidth to, such as whether to wear a necklace backwards (inspiration above), and if I did, which ones would work (this and this). It's also an appropriate moment (or five) to finally track down Katie Holmes's random but distinctly stylish polka dot tights, below, (to wear with this!), and Camille Charriere's extra large/prohibitively expensive but still inarguably chic Saint Laurent tote bag (last pic). Expect more capriciousness this week!

communication major
Friday, December 23
I finally caught up with my non-stop, on-the-go twin sis while she was driving up the Merrick Parkway to New Hampshire for the holiday weekend. In the midst of talking about everything from upcoming travel plans to children shenanigans to weather, she realized she had missed an exit off the highway and was lost. She asked to call me back once she found her way. Twenty minutes later, I received a text instead with a screenshot of a $36 jacket. Who knows where she is now, but I do know I want the same jacket, above! Plus: the under $200 Good American, below, to dress up dresses and course-correct casual jeans!
