It didn't feel like fall in Paris last week, but it sure looked that way with all the boots on the ground. Knee-high and higher styles marched skirts, mini skirts and shorts into next-season perfection. I prefer ones with low or block heels, so that they're more wearable , but still make a big statement like these from Chloe (immediately below), Loeffler Randall, Schutz and Zara. P.S. How crazy cool is Caroline Issa's faux shearling Sacai jacket, above? LOVE!

As Audrey Hepburn famously said, "Paris is always a good idea." Even for a 96-hour trip! During my whirlwind visit there this past week, I packed in at least 12,000 steps a day, meandering around the Marais, St. Germain des Pres, Ile St. Louis, the Right Bank (and running in Parc Monceau!); popping into art exhibits, fashion presentations, several parties and, of course, shopping! Want to know what I bought? Pretty much what the chic Parisiens are wearing: these Prada kitten heels, the embellished Sandro jacket, below, that I belted with this, as well as this denim coatigan, and this Isabel Marant boucle jacket. (Thanks to the strongest dollar in two decades!) All of these new gems complemented what I had packed in my Rimowa carry-on: the Maison Mayle black corduroy suit, below, the Mayle top and skirt, above, the bronze corduroy Blaze Milano blazer, the black square-neck G.Label Goop dress (which garnered major praise from all the French fashionistas), these Sam Edelman velvet Mary Janes, this Dorsey lab-grown Riviere necklace, and Doen's ruffle-trimmed maxi, and these Chloe knee-high brown boots, all pictured below. If you're heading to Paris anytime soon, make sure you pack a jacket or five! Honestly, it's all one needs to blend in, look chic, throw over anything, and stave off the fall chill. Since I've been here, I've purchased three: this embellished Sandro, this Mango and this Isabel Marant!

Sweater weather in Paris is synonymous with statement knits, and yesterday I had the pleasure of seeing up close this season's latest and greatest, including the tasseled Zimmermann, above (also here), and the Crayon-striped Loewe, below. I also worked one of my own (an old sequin Zara turtleneck). My friend La Double J designer JJ Martin, below, wore her own faux fur trimmed vest. Also good: this tasseled Mango (a riff on the Zimmerman!), this Gucci, this sequined Altuzarra, and this cashmere Cos.

Looks like Katie Holmes just triggered another style tsunami in Paris--an epic follow-up to her Khaite cashmere bra and cardigan Instagram wave in Manhattan a few years ago--with her stirring white leather dress and black blazer, all by Chloe. The aftershocks resonated immediately: see below. I'm all for a white dress in winter! Why not? Any of these by Rotate Birger, Line & Dot, Chloe, and Massimo Dutti will do! Fashion Week is now underway in Paris, and attendees are putting on a tres chic show!
