trouser time
Monday, August 30
My jeans typically go on hiatus from June through August. This year, it looks like they'll be extending their time off. Because this fall it's all about trousers. Fortunately, they are as versatile, easy going and everyday wearable as denim--but decidedly more polished and refreshingly different. Londoner Emma Hill is showing me exactly how they're done well. Firstly, she tones them down with relaxed footwear (slides and sneaks) and simple tops (this, this and this). I like these (most flattering) trousers from Acne Studios, Loulou Studio, And Other Stories, Pixie Market and Zara. The beige pair, pictured above, can be found here.

LA-based blogger Julie Sarinana's take on end-of-summer dressing is totally spot on, because pretty much every piece she wears can easily transition into fall. The ones I especially want: the AGOLDE cut-away black tank top and DL1961 wide-leg jeans (immediately below), the Enitreworld striped shorts and top set, the R13 oversized white shirt (last pic), the Loewe basket tote, the Bassike black dress, and the LPA puff-sleeve blouse (below).

back at it
Thursday, August 26
Back-to-school shopping for my sons this week somehow yielded additions to my fall uniform. Go figure! For starters, I snapped up the do-it-all J.Crew blazer/cardigan hybrid, above. It's super soft and incredibly versatile (with jeans, a dress, sweats, etc.)--and it's 30% off! While I was there, I also picked up the pretty pearl lariat, below, that I will also layer with my gold chain necklace. Then I scored these New Balance running sneakers that are equal parts fashionable and functional. Exactly what I need these days!

fall finery
Wednesday, August 25
The one thing that this fall has going for it is its new simple dress code: a t-shirt, loose-fitting jeans and casual shoes. The Paris-based stylist pictured here is giving me some great visual inspo--and sources for the best-cut versions of fall's new essentials. They include Mango t-shirts (above and below), the Maje tweed cardigan (below), high-waist Levi's (immediately below) and long-length (above), classic Gucci loafers, and a long Burberry trench coat. P.S. I also love these flattering loose-but-not-too-loose jeans from Slvrlake, AGOLDE, and Zara.

endless summer
Tuesday, August 24
I'm not over summer yet. Not even close. So, to maintain my daily light-dressing routine, I just indulged in Shopbop's new sale, stocked with amazing warm weather pieces that will endure summers to come! Take the cute Ulla Johnson tank, above. (In fact, it's worth checking out all the Ulla on sale here!) Also compelling: these perfect-wash Frame jeans, these SLVRLAKE white denim shorts, this La Double J print skirt, this Iro romper and these Levi's cargo pants. Shop it all here!
going bananas
Monday, August 23
Hurricane Henri didn't stop me from New York-ing yesterday, running in the rain along the Hudson River, brunching at The Odeon and poking around Soho, where I spotted some shockingly good pieces at Banana Republic. P.S.: It's not a usual stop, but these pieces, below, stopped my in tracks. I especially love the zebra print blouse, above, the white ruffle dress, below, the yellow smock top, and the Johanna Ortiz-spirited printed looks, following. Check it all out here.
striped staple

In case you didn't know, this is the striped sweater everyone wants for fall--and I am one of them! It's from And Other Stories and it's so good.
prints charming
Friday, August 20
Our European counterparts are maxing out the last days of summer with bright print tops that go from beach to street--and I'm totally inspired to follow suit! I'd like to make a bold statement in these iterations from La Double J, Zara, Mara Hoffman, Vestir (second to last pic) and Matteau (last image).
