the filet bag
Thursday, July 6
Unlike most "it" bags, this summer's new must-have sack does not have a waiting list or a steep price tag. Still, it boasts a burgeoning profile, showing up everywhere from chic Parisian boulevards to sun-soaked tropical beaches. Called the filet bag, initially made decades ago for French fishermen, it expands to accommodate pretty much whatever you put inside, and because it rests comfortably on the shoulder and goes with almost any outfit, it's now a verified fashion statement. Bonus: it costs less than $20! I just bought a few in various shades here and here to bring to Sardinia with me!
the long run
Wednesday, July 5
Typically, soaring summer temps usher in shorter, skin-baring hemlines--but, evidently, not in Paris! Currently, couture fashion show attendees are going long, opting for calf-grazing dresses and skirts, and the look is both cool and elegant. Proof in these pics here! I'm happy to go a la francaise with these (fall-friendly) beauts by Self Portrait, Rixo London, Tibi, Rebecca Taylor, Marchesa Notte, H&M, Endless Rose, and Cynthia Rowley.

long-weekending looks
Friday, June 30
Fireworks, barbecue hopping and parade marching are on my action-packed agenda, so I'm looking to on-the-go blogger Belen Hostalet for some what-to-wear ideas. Her mix of streamlined swimsuits, vibrant short dresses, embellished tops and bold accessories is distinctly cool and poised for (perpetual) action. I love her Euro-sleek swimsuits by Arabella London (above) and In Your Arms (below). Also cool: her beach to street boho dresses and tops, like this red $39 Mango (second image down) and this embellished Dodo Ba Or (on sale, last pic). These similar-spirited styles by Lemlem, Anjuna, Derek Lam 10 Crosby, and Figue (on sale!) are also amazing. Head-turning bags and sunglasses are Belen's exemplary finishing touches; Her go-to's include these sunglasses by Folli Follie (above) and House of Hererra (below), and ornate basket bags, like this and this. Happy Holiday Weekend!

rise to the top
Thursday, June 29
All I wanted to do was a wear a pretty, summery dress for a work lunch in Malibu yesterday. I tried on at least five frocks before deciding to wear something else that felt just as summery: a one-shoulder statement top and wide leg cropped Jesse Kamm jeans (my favorite ever!). The skin-revealing top fulfilled my desire for something feminine but still was easy and comfortable. Now I'm thinking I can't have enough of these outfit-making blouses and loving these by Edit (above), Petersyn, Rosie Assoulin, Marysia (I'd wear it as a top), Stylekeepers (or this one that I almost wore yesterday!), H&M, and Topshop. P.S. The flared jeans, above, can be found here.

summer beauty
Tuesday, June 27
As I waited in a long valet parking line the other day after an event with other editors and stylists, our collective vexation shifted into a constructive conversation about our favorite beauty products. I ended up gleaning some amazing new recommendations and thought I'd share! For starters, I learned about Kora's Noni Glow Body Oil, an all natural, multi-purpose body treatment, composed of obscure things like noni extract, rosehip and sunflower seed oils, that's super-duper hydrating and leaves your skin with a silky Miranda Kerr-like sheen. (She invented this product!) Also noteworty: Nyakio's Baobob Lip Balm, which moisturizes and gives your lips a perfectly glossy finish, plus is paraben-, petroleum- and sulfate-free. My picks included: BeautyCounter's touch-up pen, which is an all-natural stand-in for the long revered YSL's Touche Eclat and Goop's skin-softening Exfoliating Instant Facial. Coincidentally, we're all equally obsessed with Vintner's Daughter, an active botanical glow-inducing serum, which I dutifully massage into my face morning and night. It's like Gatorade (but the healthy kind!) for parched skin.

I love how LA-based designer and blogger Julie Sarinana puts a sophisticated spin on a pedestrian summer uniform--Marissa Webb shorts and a t-shirt--with some elevated accessories. Her choice extras: a woven past-season Prada tote (I like this current Prada, or this one and this one), a structured straw hat (like this or this), Gucci sunglasses, and embellished Tory Burch slides. An easy everyday look to emulate!

I love that I am twinning today with model Anita Hodosi, who's sporting her marigold H&M dress in Venice, Italy. I'm thinking she might also like this pretty one that I just snapped up!
