It was no coincidence that the hoisery section at Target on the corner of Greenwich and Murray was completely cleaned out this past Monday morning. The CVS a few blocks away had a just skimpy selection of opaque tights, but not the sheer ones that right now everyone is wanting to wear--and I am not talking about the Wall Street execs who work in the vicinity. Yes, sheer stockings are the latest must-have--whether they're by Legggs or Wolford. If pantyhose isn't your thing, then stick to white socks with ballet slippers (not loafers, like last year!), or to instantly update your fall look NYC-style, simply wrap a light sweater around your neck like a scarf or slip on a pair of these influencer-approved Amazon leather gloves. Remember nonchalance is key with all these styling strategies!

If it were not for the Christmas trees twinkling all over New York City, you'd never guess the holidays are around the corner, especially when people are still out and about in t-shirts. Hence it wouldn't be too much of a challenge to contemplate right now scooping up the pretty crochet dress or the cut-out Christopher Esber, below (holiday party-ready with a blazer!) as they just went on sale along with a slew of designer clothing and accessories at Shopbop. Also good for now and later: the Free People utility jacket, below, these Schutz ballet flats, these B Sides barrel leg jeans, these endlessly versatile black Rag & Bone trousers, and this TWP button-down blouse. Shop the three-day sale here!

Leandra Cohen, above, gently suggested to shoe designer Emme Parsons to make her signature T-strap with a kitten heel--and now all of us are obsessed! She has them in both black patent leather and burnt red satin! I took mine out in suede for a whirl the other night, see below! Speaking of obsessed: have you seen H&M's new party collection? It's gooooooood, particularly the embellished blazer, fringe mini, and the rhinestone tuxedo shirt.

Today feels like I'm white-knuckling through one of those tense, turbulence-filled flights, trying to help fly the plane by looking out the window, listening but not really to the people talking around me. I'm thinking a little bit of distraction from the all the action could help... like diverting my focus to these Saint Laurent suede loafers, above, aptly named Le Loafer and nearly sold out. Do I really need them? Maybe I do in black!? I actually do need the bow-trimmed Zara gloves, below, because I have to have them for winter, along with a slinky party dress, plus a super (hero) cape-like coat that might fly me to another time and space?! P.S. If you need further retail therapy, check out this flash sale!

New week, new Substack! This time around it's all about what I bought myself for my birthday--and a round-up of (self) gifting ideas. After I published it yesterday, an IG friend DM'ed me to ask if I had a discount code to buy herself a big piece of birthday jewelry. Fortunately, I had one up my sleeve for her, and some for you today, including 10% off at Shylee Rose and Dehanche with the code MARLIEN10, both pictured below. Expect at least a dozen more (just in time for holiday shopping!) in my next Substack, which, if you subscribe, will hit your inboxes by the weekend!
