Lisbon-based Mafalda Patricio is earning her stripes this summer, first-time mom-ing and traveling. I'm inspired to line up some more of my own, especially in new bright shades (her Arizona Love crochet shorts, above) and off-kilter silhouettes. Because one can never have enough stripes, right? I packed well but not enough for this past holiday weekend at home in the Hamptons with my family. A new Doen dress, above, made a splash at a beach club lunch, followed up with the strapless floral Coco Shop, a Matteau silk shirt (that scored a zillion compliments!), and an eyelet Veronica Beard shirtdress. By the last day, to avoid a repeat performance, I ended up wearing a white cotton pajama top with my Madewell jeans to a beach party! It actually looked okay, however, if I could do it all again, I'd bring this super chic seersucker Polo Ralph Lauren pajama top to pull off the same trick, but even better, along with this new sculpted tube dress by House of Dagmar, this Saloni vest, this Chloe belt (to cinch in my floaty H&M dresses!) and these embroidered drawstring Rails pants.

According to the news, 71 million Americans are expected to travel 50 or miles for the 4th. I've covered some distance this morning, via in-roads on the World Wide Web. My online sleuthing, took me to Banana Republic, where there'a an almost shocking amount of spot-on pieces, including the asymmetric skirt, above, linen jumpsuit, oversized t-shirt, paperbag shorts, fringed tank--all looks I could see myself wearing this long holiday weekend. Then I turned north on to The Reformation to check out its just-out collaboration with Brock. I'm loving the belted frill-neck dress, below. From there, I hooked a right to Anthropologie and ran into the strapless stunner, below. And then I ended up in the undiscovered territory of sporty shorts and ballet flats, together (last two pics). I like this look, starting now, with this and this. Happy 4th, everyone! Be safe!

I've been on the fence about wearing a strapless top this summer, but Nicole Ritchie, above, just convinced me I can bare my shoulders with elegance. Her sculptural Khaite top looks evening ready with a pair of jeans. Meanwhile Paris-based stylist Sylvie Mus, below, does it daytime, ever so simply!
