colorful covers
Thursday, September 25
On a glossy burnt-orange runway in Milan yesterday, Prada unveiled what’s next in our colorful fashion future: bold shades of green, purple, turquoise, pink, baby blue, red, yellow, lavender, and, yes, black, too. The color story is a continuation of this season’s pastels-meet-winter-greys, but sharper, splashier, more decisive. The must-haves? A blouson jacket in powder blue, car coats in alabaster pink, oversized shackets in shamrock green and a nylon jacket that lemon yellow we saw in New York— all classic cuts made modern with color. Of course, I went straight to Etsy to source some vintage (instant gratification) options (scored this, pondering this), but also found the $109 Lioness (last pic), this yellow Banana Republic barn coat, and this pink/mauve Le Bop.

Turns out the real star of NYFW wasn’t on the runway, it was in the front row. Le Catch’s top-earning link of the week? A pair of pink corduroy pants from J.Crew. I spotted them on a fellow attendee at Kallmeyer, above, and was too intimidated to ask where she got them. But ever the intrepid shopper, I sleuthed them down for you—and several dozen pairs later (including one in my own closet), they emerged as the week’s highest-converting item. They also happen to be on sale right now. In any case, pink is back, baby, and so I am digging with the striped knit, below, this Le Bop jacket (I wore the tan/blue version earlier this week), and this Hill House Home cardigan.

big bold beautiful jewelry
Tuesday, September 23
Net-a-Porter’s buying manager Lydia Zacharis is one of fashion’s most finely-tuned bellwethers, adept at going long on what will become essential. Lately, her personal jewelry, pictured above, is speaking volumes: bold, sculptural and statement-making. (Her silver bracelet by Charlotte Chesnais is stunning! I like this low-key derivative, too.) And the runways are re-inforcing her preferences. From New York to London, designers from Michael Kors to Nanushka (both pictured below) are draping models in long chains tipped with pendants the size of clenched fists—silver and leather talismans swinging with unapologetic weight. Hefty wraparound bracelets and rings are following suit. The message is clear: go big or go home with H&M's ring set, Jenny Bird's lariat, these Ann Taylor drop earrings, and Kate Young x Monica Vinader's spot-on collab (last pic).

san fran season
Monday, September 22
Back from a quick trip to San Francisco, where Twain's line about the “coldest winter…” proved true—fog rolling in like a gray cashmere throw, the damp wind blowing enough to make me forget it’s technically still summer in LA. It was the perfect excuse to pile on nearly every new knit I stuffed into my suitcase: a ribbed zip-up turtleneck over a striped crewneck, all under an oversized cardigan. Add a high-collared fleece-like knit, and suddenly I remembered how well it works to layer and layer again. Moral of the story: when the Bay tells you to bring a sweater, bring five, plus a toasty suede jacket and a statement-making scarf-trimmed knit for kicks—and wear them all at once!

My sister often vets my shopping tabs--but she's not here so you're on my buy or bye taste-duty today. Here's what I got: the H&M leather pouch ($29), above, the mock-neck (cool girl) Nation t-shirt, below, this Khaite-like macrame tote bag, this Rails rain coat in the chicest color, this ($75) Prada-inspired striped t-shirt from Banana Republic, this Lele Sadoughi tassel necklace, and this Asos tie-front cropped trench (last image). Happy Weekend!

I spent last Sunday afternoon shopping in New York with my friend Molly, who, let’s just say, could teach a masterclass in decisiveness. She sees, she tries, she likes, she buys. Efficient, instinct-driven, and always spot-on stylish. We swept through Khaite and Dries Van Noten before landing at Toteme, where Molly immediately locked in on the jacket—the one I’d only spotted on the most in-the-know editors during fashion week (pictured above). I stood there debating whether to join her in the purchase, knowing how it possesses the power to reframe my daily style, to sharpen my outfit with a single zip and drape. The truth is there are so many fall jacket options, high to low--almost too many to choose from. Sleek trenches, oversized bombers, cropped leathers, suede blazers, perfectly slouchy barn jackets... I want them all, specifically the high-collared Toteme, the red J.Crew, this leather AGOLDE (obsessed!), this suede Rohe (it's all about the high collar!), and this recently re-stocked Le Bop. P.S. Tuckernuck has this cute faux fur vest to layer under our lighter coats now (like this Loewe-inspired swing jacket) and later; same with Me + Em with this shearling Prada-like stole and Adidas with this on-trend anorak (which I'd also wear as a blouse!)
