milanese style
Monday, September 25
While Instagram delivers around-the-world style to our fingertips, it also homogenizes fashion, serving up an almost singular yet omnipresent/global aesthetic. There used to be a time when New Yorkers dressed differently than Angelenos. Not so much these days, I find. What's cool in London is also hot in Madrid. The exception to this phenomenon? The Milanese, who remain loyal to their longstanding and distinctive look, rooted in minimalism and sensuality--and manifest in the street style pics here. I want to channel their stand-out style via key pieces they love, but mostly the striped Gucci horsebit bag, a full white skirt, and red tights.
big time blazer
Monday, September 25
Every fall arrives with an "it" bag (Loewe Squeeze Bag) and shoe (Prada, please). But this year also heralds a must-have corduroy blazer by Dries van Noten. Peak lapels and double-breasted tailoring make it super chic, while the brown cotton corduroy is both neutral yet stand-out fresh. Fashion savants Alexa Chung and stylist Allison Bornstein, pictured here, vouch prove its worth--and that it can be worn with just about everything.
jackets under $300
Friday, September 22
Instead of investing in one major coat this year, I'm thinking I can stock up on some not too pricey ones and have several in rotation! The ones I'm eyeing: the By Malina buckle coat, above, the gold clasp-accented And Other Stories, the $139 quilted River Island, the furry H&M, and the scarf-trimmed Marks and Spencer coat.

stream of consciousness
Thursday, September 21
I've been asking myself all morning who needs pants when you have on do-it-all loafers by The Row? Evidently, not Kendall Jenner, above. Then again, I actually do need the jaw-dropping sequin trousers ($159!) by And Other Stories, below, and to go with, the wear-under-a-blazer lace Doen camisole, plus the pearl-studded Gap blouse (comes in white too) as a back-up. Continuing this stream of conscious, I'm obsessed with the pleated Chopova Lowena skirt that took London Fashion Week by storm, below. Lucky for me, it is now on sale here along with loads more of new fall looks.
good cos
Wednesday, September 20
Most of this morning's check-in call with my twin sister concentrated on this fringed Cos set, composed of a knit dress and a sweater. First we agreed to buy our own set, then schemed to each purchase one part of it and then share, and then we moved on to the cuteness of the boots, and from there we discussed the styling and photography. In other words, there's lots to say about Cos' new fall collection, but mainly that it's exceptionally good and filled with all kinds of chic and sharp pieces I want to wear this minute--and forever more. Highlights include the double-breasted black coat and the one-shoulder black dress (for $135!). See the entire line-up here.
last call
Wednesday, September 20
This is a courtesy reminder that today is the last day you can snag the newest, most desirable fall styles, like the $169 Bardot, above, plus street-style stars, such as the vegan leather MSGM skirt and off-the-shoulder Pixie Market, below, at Shopbop's 20% off sale. Not to be missed: Avec Les Filles shearling coat for $200, last pic, these perfect-wash Re/Done jeans, and these everyday-wearable Staud boots. Last sweep here!
miu miu must
Tuesday, September 19
Step aside, mesh shoes. Miu Miu's patent buckle-trio slingbacks are swiftly strutting into must-have status. They were spotted all over London Fashion Week, seen here. I'm ready to strap in, too! Also out and about and oh so covetable: brown jackets, both corduroy (pictured below on Alexa Chung, similar here) and leather, sheer skirts (Diotima, below), and statement-making silver jeans (last pic/under $100!).

next steps
Monday, September 18
For me, fall began yesterday when I slipped into a new pair of leather knee-high boots. It felt like I had stepped into next season, both physically and mentally. Shopbop seems to be feeling the same way today, by staging an early fall sale featuring all new-season pieces at 20% off (Use the code here.) Some highlights: these versatile Schutz boots, pictured above, these leopard-print Molly Goddard jeans (I'm obsessed!), these all-the-rage Loeffler Randall ballerina slippers, these do-everything Reformation trousers, this Ganni quilted jacket and this Nili Lotan button-down shirt. P.S. There are also TONS of the most sought after, fresh-cut jeans on offer.
