Everything about my trip to New York so far has been a literal trip: the desolate airports (on both coasts), the empty streets, blocks and blocks (and blocks) of boarded-up stores and restaurants, the dearth of yellow taxis, zero traffic, etc. It's a strange new world--but it's still my home, and I am happy to be back.
