Heat-wave dressing is often sold to us as a game of subtraction. Less fabric. Less effort. But I believe it's not simply about wearing less. It's about wearing the right amount of less. The women featured here make a compelling case for the distinction. To beat the heat this past weekend in Milan, Vogue Italia fashion editor , above, finessed color, whisper-thin layers and whimsical styling (love the with more beauts on sale and !). She also blazed through in pops of , below, with and . Meanwhile London-based lit things up with a and . And sported a classic -and-combo that I spotted in the sceniest seen-and-be-seen NYC spots last week. Also pictured: a breezy cotton camisole that actually floats away from your body. Knee-length shorts (or ) that feel as polished as a skirt. A that creates its own air-conditioning (and goes with everything), or to punctuate your point. Easy instead of denim that feels shrink-wrapped by noon. The goal isn't minimalism. It's strategic—and-stylish—ventilation.
