I'm all about a printed skirt this summer--and evidently, I am not alone! I especially love an unexpected or even kitschy pattern, which kick ups my head-to-toe look and does all the heavy-lifting outfit work. I'm talking these options (many on sale!) from Saloni, Alice & Olivia, The Reformation, Madewell, and Miguelina.
Kate Moss re-emerged in London last week after isolating in a Cotswolds cocoon--appearing as chic as ever, face mask and all. (A disposable surgical one, BTW!) The linchpin to her back-in-action, up-to-the-minute look: a full, midi-length denim skirt. Despite its retro spirit, this silhouette is actually fall-fresh, with designers issuing myriad options this season. This easy, breezy flowy skirt is adding fresh air to my summer uniform. It's working overtime with a tank top (this and this), a crop top, and, of course, a swimsuit. And come autumn, I'll wear it with a slouchy sweater and boots. There are lots of amazing options out there right now, but the cutest, freshest style is full and floaty and hits below the knees. Thought I'd keep it short today--with a little mini-skirt love. This summer staple is back (again) but the hemline is higher. In other words: legs for days. To counterbalance the shortness of the skirt, I'd go with more coverage on top, whether it's an oversized button-down, a boyfriend blazer or roomy sweater. Consider these minis from Levi's, By Malene Birger, Madewell, Alex Mill and Gucci.
This all-of-a-sudden knit set is like a one-and-done dress but better because you can wear the pieces separately, for extra mileage. Nice, right? New York's hottest day of the year so far had me debuting a denim mini, above. Truth be told, I bought the Topshop skirt because it was on sale for $29(!) and I thought it could stylishly sub in for standard-issue shorts throughout the summer. Along with the skirt, I wore a Reformation white t-shirt (perfectly cut, in my opinion) and Chanel slides to step things up a notch (or seven). Lastly, I applied GOOPGLOW Body Luminizer to my legs and arms for an opulent, radiant, heat-is-my-friend glow. And that may have been the best style hack of all! Have a great weekend!
