asked me to share my vacation packing strategies, which, in a nutshell, is this: pack less than you think you need and make every piece work harder than it looks like it should. The goal isn't outfit variety. It's outfit possibility. And the things that often make the biggest difference aren't the clothes at all. They're the accessories and extras that take up little room yet somehow transform what's already in my suitcase. A (or sarong, depending on the day). A . that also make a splash at the pool. A take-it-everywhere or (especially when they’re under $200). And, yes, a that looks good even when it’s crazy wrinkled, and a mini that stands up to both sandy picnics and seaside dinners. (P.S. Thanks to my son, I’ve recently started using , which not only compresses things but helps keep me organized.) Below, a few summer additions I’d make room for in my carry-on: the reversible jacket, sandals, an , a , plus a or , this belt, these beaded earrings, a punctuating bucket hat, plus a day-to-night tunic.
