the strapless top
Monday, December 12
A new year calls for a new top. One that is strapless, equal parts edgy and elegant and day-to-night wearable. Designers from River Island to Isabel Marant are serving up alluring options, all of them wearable now (underneath an oversized blazer or cardigan) and later. The one pictured above is by Nanushka, but I also love these by Toteme, Pixie Market (below), Tibi and Veronica Beard.
winter wardrobe
Friday, December 9
Even though I will always identify as a New Yorker, I role play as an Angelino once the temperature dips below 60 degrees, dressed in an excessively warm winter jacket. Such was the case the other "chilly " night in Beverly Hills, when I busted out the above Sacai. Though it might have been a bit overkill, it did overachieve in a cool and stylish way, perfectly pulling together my dress-and-knee high boots outfit. Some other new LA-winter wardrobe staples I have in current rotation: the most sumptuous Doen cardigan, below, this cut-out Ninety Percent dress, this faux leather white button-down by Mother Denim (the chicest!) and the Blank NYC under-$200 fleece jacket, last pic!
in-season sandals
Wednesday, December 7
Even though I'm about to celebrate my umpteenth Christmas in Los Angeles, I still find it challenging to get into the holiday spirit when it's 70-degrees and sunny outside. My consolation prize, however, is that I can wear summer-y open-toe sandals year-round--and, yes, even to holiday parties! I recently bought these chic pearl-studded Toteme sandals that are perfect for merrymaking and more.
pounce on
Tuesday, December 6
I woke up to a text this morning from a friend, airing her grievances about a sweater featured on Le Catch that had sold out. After assuring her I'd share with her the one I purchased, I recommended she pounce faster next time! Plus, I promised I'd serve up some more pieces to pounce on today. So, herewith, the must-have cashmere balaclava from J.Crew, above, the fringed Ralph Lauren-spirited shirt jacket, below, by H&M, along with some bell-sleeved stripes, the puff-sleeve Khaite-like blouse, and the sequin wrap dress. I also just splurged on this on-sale Valentino shirt! As always, more to come...
ski style
Monday, December 5
Leave it to Zara to whip up a ski collection that can stylishly swish off the slopes. Let's start with the cute hooded knit, above, and the waterproof down puffer, below, that's equipped with technology to assist rescue professionals locate you in case of an accident, avalanche, or loss in a remote area. Genius, no? Other cold-weather experts: the asymmetric-button sweater, below, and this Prada-inspired bomber jacket! P.S. Khaite just launched a compelling apres-ski range, steeped in cozy cashmere. Check it out here!
good gifts
Friday, December 2
Every year I am the knucklehead who always waits until the very last minute to do my holiday shopping. I cannot tell you why this is the case, except that online shopping has enabled me to do this and, I might add, made it easy. This year, however, Net-A-Porter is facilitating things even further, greasing the wheels with its exceptional gift edit, which, to my delight (and those I'll be gifting), offers the unexpected, such as framed prints by British Vogue photographer Guy Bourdin, above, this striking ceramic vase by Brunello Cucinelli, these exclusive satin sandals by Toteme (total self-gift!) and this rainbow-pretty set of glasses by La Double J. Shop it (for) yourself right here!
shiny shoes
Thursday, December 1
Leave it to the Parisiennes to come up with the easiset--and yet chicest--holiday dressing hack: elegant, sparkly shoes to elevate a simple outfit. I'd like to let my feet do the talking at the next party with any of these current conversation starters by Mach & Mach, Loeffler Randall, below, Prada, Miu Miu, and Gucci.
uniqlo x marni
Thursday, December 1
In case you missed it: Uniqlo and Marni have teamed up again to create a vibrant edit of striped sweaters, knit dresses, color-blocked puffer jackets and other winter essentials, all combining the functionality of Uniqlo with the fashion-forward creativity of Marni. My faves include the $30 cute scarf-turned-bag, above, as well as the vibrant cashmere turtleneck, below. The $15 set of socks and mittens also make for great stocking stuffers! See the poised-to-sell-out collection here!
home for the holidays
Wednesday, November 30
Because our busy work schedules, family, children, travel--along with the 405 and meddling flyover states--keep my twin sister and me apart a lot, we make a point doing our downtime together. And lately we've been doing it well with help from Haven Well Within, a brand dedicated to off-duty style, restoring and recharging. Its masterfully curated collection of feel-good products, loungewear, pajamas, intimates, beauty, and home essentials help us embrace the rituals and healthy routines that ground us and keep us feeling our best. When my sis and I were together recently at her home in Beverly Hills, we threw on our favorite kick-back-and-get-comfy staples from Haven Well Within, including the cashmere cardigans, above, the super soft activewear, cotton knits, and our go-to silky shorts.
