good genes and then some
Monday, September 19
All the jeans we (and Dakota Johnson, above) want to step out in this fall are up to 25% off, thanks to Shopbop's Style Event, featuring this season's newest, most coveted denim from Re/Done's high-rise stove pipe jeans, above, to AGOLDE's long and leggy, below. Also up for grabs: all of my favorite winter-ready pieces, including this Phillip Lim cable-knit sweater, See by Chloe boots, this floral Love the Label dress, and this Pistola faux leather blazer. Shop the whole shebang here!
the upside
Friday, September 16
September always has me pressing the reset button on my everyday wardrobe--and that includes my workout wear! I've been upping my game these last few weeks in pieces by The Upside, because they go from running on the beach to running errands all over town seamlessly. I also love playing tennis in this and this, because they look more fashion-y, less country club-y (if that makes sense!) So cute and yet super functional.
just cos
Friday, September 16
Cos staged its runway debut in New York earlier this week, with a see-now, buy-now collection. On my must-have list: the under-$300 wardrobe-updating outwear, starting with the layer-ready hooded faux shearling vest, the corduroy trench and (Toteme-looking) wool cape, all below. Check out the entirely compelling fall line-up here.
twin power
Thursday, September 15
Because I am an identical twin, I believe I have a unique super power to tell the difference between other twins. But Danish twin models Amalie and Cecilie Moosgard, pictured here, are my kryptonite--I cannot discern who is who! Partly to blame is their identical wardrobe. They share a mutual fondness for pared-back, minimalist silhouettes: loose-fitting and straight-leg jeans by Cos, cut-out leather sandals, above, from ATP Atelier, classic Manolo Blahnik pointy-toe pumps, Toteme tank tops and The Row bags, big and small. At least I can look like them by dressing similarly! (FYI: Cecilie is immediately below, Amalie in last pic!)

monotone mania
Wednesday, September 14
A currently popular fashion-week dressing strategy: choose a color and commit to it! The key to mastering this chic head-to-toe monotone look: opt for tints and shades of one color. Another approach: make a singular statement in a one-and-done bold dress, or simply match your Bottega bag with your Frankie Shop blazer, as demonstrated below. Fashion consultant Ramya Giangola, above, blends her High Sport stretch-knit blue pants with a perfectly-oversized (IYKYK!) Maria McManus shirt, while Instagram maven Eva Chen mixes a Patou lavender mini with a Mango button-down. Gabriela Hearst has the monotone dress nailed, and you find some on sale here, and for less, you can get in on this trend here and here.
seeing red
Tuesday, September 13
Now in the running for the look of New York Fashion week: the red dress might, and now it's poised to be fall's cult object! I'm all in. Red radiates a strong and powerful energy, which I could use right now--and then some. Plus, this color transcends all seasons--making it an evergreen. I'm eyeing these possibilities from Cecile Bahnsen, Proenza Schouler, and Zara.
city sleek
Monday, September 12
So far, my favorite New York Fashion Week street style looks amount to a mixed bag of classic solids, wild prints, mini dresses and maxis. Despite their differences, however, they all share one thing in common: everyday wearability. A good trend, indeed! The minis that stood out: this and this. Then there were the ubiquitous ribbed tank tops (this mostly), along with these personal discoveries from See By Chloe, Sir, Tibi, and J.Crew.
dorothee
Friday, September 9
Everyday easy clothes that are dressed-up and polished? Yes, please. I actually scored several pieces from Dorothee Schumacher, the Germany-based designer who seems to be making more inroads here lately. I'm loving the nonchalant elegance (and versatility) of her poplin strapless dress, above, that I will wear with knee-high boots or flat sandals and the classic sophistication of her wool coat, below. Plus, this leopard and mohair sweater that's just-right statement making. P.S. I also love the not too crazy prices!
