I hit the mall for back-to-school shopping yesterday and left with several back-to-business scores I didn’t even see coming, including the very High Sport-spirited J.Crew knit kick-flare pants, above (love how it's styled too), the red chino jacket (inspired by The Row and you will need some version of it this fall), and the easy-to-layer knit shell, below. I also tried on this corduroy-collared barn jacket (size small!) and love the idea of wearing it zipped up, sleeves rolled up, as a shirt. Another fall-ready take-away: tie something on (this and this) for added texture.

There’s a certain sound to a Sunday night—not the fizz of a just-poured seltzer, but the quiet dread of Monday is coming. And then, of course, Monday shows up like a foghorn in your inbox. The trick? For me, shifting my mindset and my closet at the same time. Which is where the oversized long short comes in— the perfect in-between. Tailored enough to read as “I tried,” breezy enough to keep one foot in the weekend. The hem hits just past mid-thigh, flirting with pant territory (no one will bat an eye), while the airy cut whispers I just got off the Jitney. Pair them with a crisp button-down and ballet sandals for “ready to work." Last night at a party celebrating Clare V's newly-expanded Silverlake boutique, my vintage toe-ring Chanel sandals drew a quiet but steady stream of compliments. It felt like a personal style victory--especially in the company of LA's biggest fashionistas--but also, perhaps, a sign of the times. According to a recent Vogue feature, toe rings—dormant for decades save for the occasional bohemian cameo — are officially a THING, their delicate loops lending an architectural elegance to the foot, plus a jolt of sparkle. If you’re toe-ring-curious, the easiest entry point is footwear—a subtle strap looping around the big toe, creating that same focal point without the actual jewel. Something about the light in Copenhagen always looks a little different. Softer, maybe. Like a filter that whispers instead of shouts. (Or it could just be Sandra Semburg's brilliant photography, featured here.) This season at Copenhagen Fashion Week, the light isn’t the only thing that hits differently; the vibrant saturated colors we’ve come to expect (and adore) from Scandi girls—the unapologetic chartreuse, the fuchsia on fuchsia on fuchsia—have given way to a more nuanced palette. Think soft grays, muted yellows, dusty charcoals, winter whites. Not boring neutrals—wear-everywhere neutrals. The kind of tones that don’t demand attention but still hold it. And I’m 100% into it! There’s something quietly radical about this restraint. I'm now eyeing a few standout pieces cropping up again and again this week: the stalwart white tank top, suddenly elevated when tucked into a long suede skirt or peeking out from under oversized blazers. There’s lace, too, peeking out too—just the edge of a slip hem under an otherwise simple knit, and yes, baggy jeans are here in full force, worn low and loose, paired with basic knits, above, or sharply tailored outerwear. I like the new ones by Staud and Madewell--the proportions are perfect. Also, strappy sandals continue to dominate, so I just stocked up on these. This more toned-down Copenhagen still feels like Copenhagen: inventive, layered, and deeply wearable.

While half-asleep and sleuthing why the power had gone out all night in Santa Monica Canyon, I stumbled across something slightly more intriguing than downed lines or blown transformers: AccuWeather’s latest fall forecast is calling for a warmer-than-average fall, with temps lingering 2–3 degrees above normal well into the season. And just like that, a silver lining emerged—transitional dressing is getting a longer runway. Think trench coats, lightweight knits, and those in-between pieces that shine when it’s not quite hot, not quite cold. Not only did I love reuniting with longtime friends at the Roz event I hosted yesterday in Sag Harbor, I also enjoyed the chance to make some new ones—and quietly take in their style. What struck me most? How refreshingly un-algorithmic everyone looked. In a moment where Instagram’s fashion filter seems to have ironed out individuality in favor of a homogenous uniform, this particular nook of Eastern Long Island felt like a breath of chic, fresh air. Each guest brought their own flavor—personal and totally distinct (i.e., AYR's not-your-average white button down, pink High Sport pants, G Label sundresses, Sir stripes). Speaking of distinct, I am obsessed with Yan Yan Chan’s summer wardrobe. The model and aspiring actress, originally from Australia and now based in New York, has that rare ability to pull off both city and beach looks without leaning too hard in either direction. There’s an ease to the way she dresses that feels equal parts intentional and undone. Her outfits have made me rethink a few things in my own closet—or at least reconsider how I’m wearing them. Low-slung belts over skirts and dresses? Suddenly essential. A preppy blazer teamed with a denim mini? Feels right. She's big on contrasts: neutrals with pops of color, sporty with delicate, sharp with soft. There’s nothing precious about it, but it still feels elevated. I want to add some Yan Yan to my everyday mix: the pink striped Matteau top, above, a lace-trimmed slip skirt, a big Polo Ralph Lauren tote bag, and sleek (cuffable) jeans.
