san fran season
Monday, September 22
Back from a quick trip to San Francisco, where Twain's line about the “coldest winter…” proved true—fog rolling in like a gray cashmere throw, the damp wind blowing enough to make me forget it’s technically still summer in LA. It was the perfect excuse to pile on nearly every new knit I stuffed into my suitcase: a ribbed zip-up turtleneck over a striped crewneck, all under an oversized cardigan. Add a high-collared fleece-like knit, and suddenly I remembered how well it works to layer and layer again. Moral of the story: when the Bay tells you to bring a sweater, bring five, plus a toasty suede jacket and a statement-making scarf-trimmed knit for kicks—and wear them all at once!

My sister often vets my shopping tabs--but she's not here so you're on my buy or bye taste-duty today. Here's what I got: the H&M leather pouch ($29), above, the mock-neck (cool girl) Nation t-shirt, below, this Khaite-like macrame tote bag, this Rails rain coat in the chicest color, this ($75) Prada-inspired striped t-shirt from Banana Republic, this Lele Sadoughi tassel necklace, and this Asos tie-front cropped trench (last image). Happy Weekend!

I spent last Sunday afternoon shopping in New York with my friend Molly, who, let’s just say, could teach a masterclass in decisiveness. She sees, she tries, she likes, she buys. Efficient, instinct-driven, and always spot-on stylish. We swept through Khaite and Dries Van Noten before landing at Toteme, where Molly immediately locked in on the jacket—the one I’d only spotted on the most in-the-know editors during fashion week (pictured above). I stood there debating whether to join her in the purchase, knowing how it possesses the power to reframe my daily style, to sharpen my outfit with a single zip and drape. The truth is there are so many fall jacket options, high to low--almost too many to choose from. Sleek trenches, oversized bombers, cropped leathers, suede blazers, perfectly slouchy barn jackets... I want them all, specifically the high-collared Toteme, the red J.Crew, this leather AGOLDE (obsessed!), this suede Rohe (it's all about the high collar!), and this recently re-stocked Le Bop. P.S. Tuckernuck has this cute faux fur vest to layer under our lighter coats now (like this Loewe-inspired swing jacket) and later; same with Me + Em with this shearling Prada-like stole and Adidas with this on-trend anorak (which I'd also wear as a blouse!)

Back in LA—the quiet after the fashion week storm. No more downtown jackhammers and sirens, just the whirr of leaf blowers and waves lapping the beach. I’ve returned with an extra garment bag full of new/borrowed treasures, but the clothes that carried me through the week deserve their own shoutout. The MVP's: my Madewell jeans, above, (30% off right now, seriously stock up!) that I wore to coffee runs, fashion shows, dinners to Frenchette and Odeon, plus multiple meetings at San Vicente West Village. I also leaned hard on my red satin Reformation sandals, which somehow worked with almost every outfit and garnered 5,000 compliments. (Turns out it is all about a red shoe (from this to this), a red sweater (this one sale or this one in my dreams!), and now, of all things—thanks to TWP's 2026 spring collection—a red eyeglass-holder necklace I promptly ordered on Amazon.) That TWP bugle bead top I wore to the show? A zillion DMs--and a cameo on Vogue, no less. (Yes, it’s as good as you think, immediately below.) The Loulou Studio blazer I bought for $100(!) that I wore to Kallmeyer's show yesterday is the perfect weight for NY and LA’s not-quite-fall evenings, above. My new Gucci bag became an instant conversation starter with Net-a-Porter's sharp-eyed buying manager Lydia Zacharis and finessed my 9 to 9 daily routine. Then there was the Sea vest, layered over the most versatile Tory Burch dress, paired with pointy-toe heels that I walked miles in (no joke) and had a friend clicking “buy” post-show. And I can’t not mention my current obsessions with the pictured J.Crew cords that I spied at a show (now on sale), more cute cords that my friend was wearing (understandably, almost sold out!), the new necessity for a yellow rain jacket (hello, Spring 2026 Kule, TWP, plus gold statement bangles (that can even frame your watch) from Charlotte Chesnais. Fashion week is over, but the outfits—and the inspiration—are sticking around.
non-stop new york
Monday, September 15
There’s been so much happening in New York that I pulled it all together in this weekend’s Substack — a roundup of my latest discoveries from new coffee spots to the new denim everyone's after. It also includes my latest musts: Leandra’s Altuzarra bag, Zara's button-cuff pants, this jacket-like cardigan from ba&sh, and these brown Aligne jeans (it's all about the brown!). Off to shows and a shoot and will be back with more intel!
nyfw details
Friday, September 12
Everywhere I look, it’s the quiet details making the loudest impact. The little switches that transform an outfit, like a long bold necklace, rather than layered gold ones (guilty, I just made the swap, above!) I like these statement makers from Chan Luu, Julietta (below and, I mean that lush hair too!), Massimo Dutti, and Lele Sadoughi. Brooches are also stealing the spotlight—spotted in fresh, modern takes at Mango and Alaia, pinned in ways that feel more effortless than prim (also here and here). Even accessories are doubling up on purpose: think sleek leather pouches that work like jewelry themselves (incoming Michael Kors 2026, below). And tops that tote accessory-like flourishes, such as my Chan Luu blouse, last pic, my Xu Zhi beaded jacket (above), and these by Rohe, Jason Wu and Staud.

Some pieces may not scream special, but they quietly hold everything together. Jeans fall into that category: endlessly wearable, and—when chosen well—unfailingly stylish. Currently, at New York Fashion Week, out and about on the streets and at the shows and soirees, that truth is front and center: me last night in Madewell, below, and today in AYR! What looks freshest, IMHO, are carpenter jeans and their utility details; These best-selling J.Crew jeans are everywhere I look! They bring that nonchalant, street-smart energy that pairs as easily with a crisp shirt as with a slouchy sweater. And yes, balloon pants, too! They’ve practically become an of course by now. Their sculptural volume showed up on runways as a given (I spotted at 10 Derek Lam's presentation yesterday, below), adding drama and ease all at once. Even paired with the simplest tee, they feel styled, intentional, and current. I love the just-out denim pair from Zara, below, these hybrid Co, and these cinch-them-yourself Still Here New York!
nyfw day one diary
Wednesday, September 10
Touched down and headed straight to dinner at Odeon—where the one and only Chris McMillan (yes, Jennifer Aniston’s longtime mane man, in town for her Morning Show press tour) slid into our booth last-minute and dished the best tip of the night: try his new Glassy Smooth Blow Dry Spray. Ran off the heaps of fries this morning with a West Side Highway jog, fueled at Rigor Hill, and dove into a day of fittings—Maison Mayle forever a must-stop (new outfit above!). Peeked Brandon Maxwell (fringe obsessions incoming), toasted Veronica Beard’s 15th anniversary at Corner Bistro, and impulse-bought my friend’s Lou Lou Studio jacket—on sale for $200! (below, more here!)—while mid-lobster roll at Shop My’s Corner Store soirée. The night capped uptown at The Morning Show season premiere after-party at the Metropolitan Club, with mental add-to-carts from the night trailing behind me: ASOS fringe, thanks Brandon Maxwell (last pic), this belted herringbone Xu Zhi skirt ($270!), this H&M faux fur collar, this denim TWP blouse, and this bold striped jersey). Day one: done!

Landed in New York less than 24 hours ago and already feel like I’ve had a front-row seat to fall style. Tribeca is its own runway this week—models drifting between castings in perfectly slouchy jeans paired with button-downs, sleek tailored blazers or chic parkas. Dinner at Odeon last night, below, was a study in casual elegance (I wore well-fitting denim, a statement blouse and a beaded jacket), and this morning’s coffee run to Laughing Man doubled as a cool workout gear seminar. Then I read Vogue's rundown on NYFW, which declared that September wardrobes will revert to a trusty, familiar combo: a blazer and jeans. I’ve barely unpacked, but it’s clear my suitcase is missing a few fall essentials: something collared and striped, both button-down, above (I love the piping!), mixed-up, and rugby-ish, vintage-feeling (below), and layers that read more “effortlessly cool” than “trying too hard" (this, this and this). New York wastes no time in reminding you exactly where your style gaps are.
