two for one
Tuesday, January 7
Never mind that I hadn't seen 99% of the movies nominated for a Golden Globes, I still enjoyed the show on Sunday night, particularly comedian Nikki Glaser's razor-sharp wit and playful jabs, Demi Moore's "measuring up" acceptance speech, and Zendaya's copper-colored Louis Vuitton and sparkly engagement announcement. Another captivating statement: Cate Blanchett's chic-to-repeat gold sequin gown, gorgeously accessorized with TWO extra big/blingy ear cuffs that looked both elegant and edgy--and also real-life doable! I want to pull this off too with this under $200 option from Demarson (below), Shashi ($88!), this one or this Adina Reyter, Speaking of dazzling two-for-one statements: the denim collared knit rugby ($56), above, is the kind of the thing that will make January slightly more tolerable, along with Tuckernuck's faux fur and ribbed knit jacket and faux leather and shearling pullover.
vacay vibes
Monday, January 6
Does anyone else feel like they need a vacation from their vacation? I have a hunch I am not the only one daydreaming about doing absolutely nothing on this first Monday of 2025. But if there is one thing I am motivated to do, it's plan my next warm weather escape--with an assist from Shopbop's Vacation Shop. The masterfully-curated edit has me already packing--mentally at least! I'll take vintage Chanel brooches on seersucker gingham any day (and even wear them now on a coat), bow-trimmed lace-up sandals for here and there, a standout suit by Ancora (or two!), as well as an Alemais drop-dead gorgeous cover-up/dress. Come away with me and book your journey here!

First Substack of the year is out, and it's all about embracing life's real luxuries--slow mornings, healthy choices, "boring days," traveling, and meaningful conversations. Read how I recently indulged myself--and looked cute in the process (La Double J, Maison Mayle, Kiki Vargas, Thatch Jewelry, Adina Reyter)!

forward march
Thursday, January 2
In 2025 I'll be stepping out much like I did in 2024: simply, pointedly, and poised to go, go, go. But there's a new twist: a slight heel, symbolizing my elevated stride and stalwart determination. It's the same energy but a little more refined and grown-up, with every step forward in my new Loro Piana ballet flats, above, reflecting a more pulled-together and fearless version of myself!

Yesterday, I ticked off one of my New Year's resolutions yesterday by tackling a closet cleanup. By the end, I had sorted everything into three categories: clothes to keep, sell and give away. My first "customer" (a.k.a., my mom!) showed up to browse the giveaway pile. She eagerly picked up several items to try on and in that moment, I found myself reclaiming a few--all by Cos--back into my collection. Which subsequently led me to this new keeper: a silk, scarf-trimmed jacket that will finesse 2025 and beyond.
1. Cos silk jacket, $275, cos.com

apres
Tuesday, December 31
My kids will be the first to tell you that my love for apres-ski surpasses my begrudging attempts to follow them down black diamonds. For me, it's not just about thawing out and winding down, it's about embracing the art of "after," that sacred, restorative pause we all deserve! In my book, apres is not just for skiers; it's for anyone who's finessed their way through the holidays and come out the other side. This is the time to breathe deeply and settle into the warmth of unhurried comfort. And look fresh and chic while doing so in the faux fur trimmed puffer jacket, above, the faux fur hoodie, below, the drawstring COS jeans, the dramatic wool And Other Stories cape, and the under $100 sexy lace dress. Happy New Year!
in time
Monday, December 30
Herewith begins the weird stretch of time that feels at once like a complete standstill but also relentlessly in motion--the awkward yet familial feeling of being on the cusp of change, like the moment before a storm blows in, or a bird flaps its wings and flies off: the suspension of time between before and after. And yet I'm pretty much doing the same thing I always do: scouring the internet, but this time for ways to look fresh and cool in 2025. So far, I've found some scores including the H&M leopard print shirt dress (my favorite because it works equally well with boots or thrown over a bikini), the ruffled statement blouse, the pearl-studded Simkhai jeans, and the cream and clean-looking field jacket. Onward!
presenting...
Tuesday, December 24
My Instagram feed served up a last-minute Christmas present in the form of Julia Kalmanovich's inspiring style. The Russian designer's day-to-day uniform is anchored in jeans and topped with massively compelling statements, from striped faux fur tops (yes, you read that correctly and you can find it here and also try this and this) to Hermes loafers (I'm tempted to buy a less expensive, pre-loved pair here) and fur-trimmed flats (this Staud pair is actually everyday doable). I also love the Loro Piana hat (immediately below), the long faux fur coat trick (over a t-shirt and jeans!) the unexpected argyle socks, and everything Chanel! Wrap it all up for me, please!
