weekend wear
Friday, January 19
Friends from frozen, far-away places are heading into town this weekend--along with gusty Pacific Northwest winds and intense downpours! I'll be playing tour guide (Dolce Vita for dinner tonight, San Vicente Bungalows on Saturday) and wardrobe consultant, with my closet at their disposal. My weekending officially kicked off last night in my new shearling-trimmed Cordova, AGOLDE jeans and Chanel shoes, above. On tap for the next days: The And Other Stories broderie anglaise blouse (for tonight), below, this Varley sweatshirt that will go from Caffe Luxe to hiking up Will Rogers, this cute Cos scarf trench, and the embellished, easy-to-layer Triarchy jean jacket (last pic--size up for a roomy fit!) Happy Weekend!

I love how everyone is working this season's white faux fur with a simple t-shirt. I actually think that's the only way to wear it, otherwise it can easily veer into tacky territory. The plush creaminess is like a beacon of light during these dark (cold) days of winter. Thankfully, we can currently get light for less. The Outnet has a slew on sale in all shades and lengths, but these chic options from Le Apt, below, Raey, last pic, Stand Studio, Goldbergh and Recto are also extremely cool.

When every day feels like a Monday this month, all I want to do is wear my coziest clothes. Doen just served up a motherlode of knits, from the cropped stripes, above, to the scalloped cardigan, below, that's making me feel more like Fri-yay! Check out the new collection here.

Everyone in LA is obsessed with Sua, the sleek new Sihuan grab-and-go market (think mala fried lotus chips, chile-oil mapo tofu, etc.), co-founded by Stephanie Liu Hjelmeseth, whose style is also exceptionally tasteful! Her wardrobe favors key ingredients like leg-lengthening Khaite jeans, pleated Co trousers (above), Frank and Eileen button-downs (below), basic knits from J.Crew and G. Label, classic Manolo Blahnik pumps, topped off with a fringed statement coat By Malene Birger (on sale--I like the short version too, also here!).

rare finds
Monday, January 15
In between watching playoff football games and my son's indoor volleyball championship match today, I'll be poking around Nordstrom which has rarely-discounted designer pieces on sale now for a limited time, including the Proenza Schouler beauty, above, as well as this gorgeous dress, plus loads of Zimmermann (OMG--this!), this sequin Khaite and this Simone Rocha skirt.

Has anyone else noticed how Zara is absolutely rocking jewelry these days? A publicist friend of mine whispered to me that she heard designer Gaia Repossi was responsible for the bullseye bling, but I can't verify that rumor. In any case, it's good, especially the $27 charm bracelet, above, and the cord necklace, below. (The cuffed jacket is also super cute!). Another friend tipped me off to the refreshingly affordable necklace and bracelet pave charms ($45!) , below, that she sourced at Pandora! I'm inclined to stock up and share with loved ones for Valentine's Day.

If you looked in my coat closet, you'd assume that I lived in New York, not LA. Because you'd find multiple trench coats, wool pea coats, faux furs, puffers, leather jackets--and soon enough the Oak & Fort vegan trench ($200), above, the Cos scarf coat, below, and the cute, color-block (on-sale) Kule jacket, pictured. And, because Kule is having its massive annual sale, some more stripes and the $78 stitch-detail knit, last pic!
