kelly cuteness

Kelly Rutherford's Instagram feed always inspires me with its profoundly meaningful, soul-soothing quotes but this morning it was her plaid Fay jacket with metal toggles that launched me into deep reflection mode, philosophizing its place in my life. I even went a little deeper and discovered this path forward, too, along with the bandana beaut, below. Hmmm....
meg and me
Wednesday, January 10
Inspired by my friend (and Dorsey founder!) Meg Strachan, above, I'm going to start working some camouflage pants (hers are by Nili Lotan) and more barrel-leg jeans, like the new Everlane pair, below. Thanks, Meg!

hawaii in the house
Tuesday, January 9
My friend Kate is in town from Hawaii, staying with me, and here's what we've covered, debated, discussed and loved this morning: the outfit-updating power of white shoes (particularly those by Prada, above, and also in the everyday flat version, the incredible jumble of Parker Thatch necklaces, the cute Ciao slides that she'll soon be wearing back in Honolulu, the versatility of a good shirt and short set (striped which I will wear under a long coat with socks and loafers and solid from The Reformation), the long (which makes it!) Lizzie Fortunato charm necklace, and the $20(!) Asos choker, which we both snapped up. And now we're off!
fresh start

I wrote my first Substack of the year, and I want to share an excerpt with you here as it's about my new wellness approach for 2024! I’m not an all-or-nothing person. The in-between is where I’m generally complacent: daily lemon water followed by bread with butter, if you know what I mean. For the most part, this middle-road strategy has worked for me, but now in 2024 as the 11’s between my eyebrows are multiplying into 111’s, I’m starting to feel like I need to be a little more all and a little less nothing. The nudge to change kicked in a few weeks ago, when I was on the working/mothering/exercising/traveling/socializing/holiday shopping treadmill, and my body was screaming, “Stop!” Finally, it did: I went down with the stomach flu, then Covid, then sprained my ankle playing tennis. As fate would have it, during this bout of maladies, I met Sarah Wragge, a highly-in-demand NY-based wellness coach and nutritionist who boasts a masters-of-the-universe clientele and has whittled some of my close friends into Ozempic-like leanness, naturally. Over breakfast at a friend’s house, she rattled off some easy-to-do biohacking methods that I could implement to quickly level up my life-long well-being. A few examples:
1. Aim for a 14+ hour fast.
2. Keep breakfast and snacks savory.
3. Drink one liter of water before your feet touch the floor in the morning.
I can do all of this, I thought! And eat way more protein (around 125 grams/day), plus implement more of Sarah’s SWW Method strategies, including a desperately-needed, science-based supplement protocol. Because my daily eeny-meeny-miny-moe selection-making process of protein powders, probiotics, prebiotics, vitamins, minerals, etc., was not cutting it, nor was it safe! Here are just a few heroes in my new supplement protocol, written by Sarah:
· SWW Restore- Replenishing Minerals
Daily stressors and nutrient-depleted foods leave our bodies lacking essential electrolytes and minerals. These minerals, including magnesium, enhance your body’s recovery at the end of every day, lure you into a calmer state, and bring you in balance. (I SWEAR BY THIS! It has helped me sleep better, improved digestion, and stopped daily bloating!)
· SWW Alkalize- Detoxifying Greens Powder
We are constantly exposed to toxins in our environment and in the food we ingest, leaving us feeling acidic, bloated, and inflamed. This powder is a nutrient-dense, organic formula of antioxidant-rich greens that kick starts digestion, supports detoxification, and keeps you in a fasted state for optimal fat burn. This secret weapon has only nine ingredients, which includes six servings of daily greens.
The most powerful natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent works synergistically with Omega-3 supplementation.
· Omega
This fish oil is highly concentrated and purified with an ideal ratio of EPA to DHA to optimize brain function and reduce inflammation.
Green Compass’ hydrolyzed collagen powder blend from marine, eggshell, and bovine sources helps protect connective tissue, supports healthy joints and muscles, and improves skin moisture and elasticity.

good as golden

The Golden Globes' red carpet entertained far more than the show's (unfunny) host, particularly the chunky chokers (Ali Wong, Elle Fanning, Emily Blunt), strapless silhouettes (Ayo Edebiri, Julianne Moore, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon), and pointy-toe stilettos (Margot Robbie, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez). I'm inclined to incorporate all of these show-stoppers into an everyday outfit like the one, above: Tove jeans, Co top, Rabanne necklace, and Toteme flats. And, just saying, if I had walked the red carpet last night, I'd want to dress things down (stylishly) today with the embellished And Other Stories t-shirt ($79) or with a louche Zara knit and sheer socks, both below.
the denim dance
Friday, January 5
Last thing I thought I'd be doing on Thursday, January 4, at 10PM, is dancing to disco music. But there I was celebrating a friend's birthday and ringing in the new year all over again, but this time in casual everyday denim. The 20+ others in attendance were similarly dressed (down) in a zero-effort, holiday-fatigue uniform, buttressed by some standout (party-friendly) styles, which included this Blaze Milano blazer over a fitted black turtleneck, this truly perfect Another Tomorrow t-shirt and trousers (above), these plush Khaite stripes and low-heeled Toteme boots, this outfit-making Khaite belt (proof below), these fresh-cut Tove jeans, these suede loafers by The Row, and this unerringly-chic cashmere La Ligne sweater. The party was essentially a polished caspule wardrobe in action! To bolster yours, make a beeline here.

While everyone's grumbling about the snow shortage in Aspen and Sun Valley, it seems Kendall Jenner made the most of her recent ski holiday without the skiing! (See her pics in Vogue!) I'm digging her powder-fresh style (that red Cordova ski suit!) and her packing edit here, filled with cool statement makers like this Bode and the green Bottega Veneta gloves, below, that are both unexpected and off-the-slopes stylish too (this, this and this too!).
